The role of a sex educator played by television in the present age is undeniable and according to a research study done by (Ward & Rivadeneyra, 1999, p. 237), television viewer involvement emerged as a profoundly consistent predictor of adolescents’ sexual attitudes which were examined by researchers and the sexual outcomes were found to be stronger in girls than in boys. The kind of sexually explicit material shown in heavy rock music videos and aggressive adult movies has managed in influencing the youth quite significantly and this factor has played an obvious role in driving the youth towards irresponsible sexual activities with distorted and embarrassing expectations.

It is mentioned in the report that extensive exposure and heavy involvement with the hard core sexual material displayed on television are directly related with creating stronger adoption of sex oriented fantasies, eager development of recreational attitudes towards unprotected sex, and more widespread sexual experience in the youth. While sex material shown on television may not be highly crude, it is still shown in abundance and I would address this issue in the sex education program by assessing how many hours each students spares for television per day and what is specifically viewed.

In an order to address the issue of sexual attitudes and sexual behavior, the type of company each student attending the sex education program must be assessed because research shows that “high-risk sexual behavior in adolescents appears to be influenced by the sexual attitudes of peers, and young people select friends whose attitudes about sex are consistent with their own attitudes”. This paper approves that the role of a sex educator played by television in the present age is undeniable and according to a research study done by, television viewer involvement emerged as a profoundly consistent predictor of adolescents’ sexual attitudes which were examined by researchers and the sexual outcomes were found to be stronger in girls than in boys.

The kind of sexually explicit material shown in heavy rock music videos and aggressive adult movies has managed in influencing the youth quite significantly and this factor has played an obvious role in driving the youth towards irresponsible sexual activities with distorted and embarrassing expectations. This essay makes a cocnclusion that as for the need to address the consequences of early sexual activity, students attending the program must be made aware that such consequences may be highly different across different cultures.

Taking an example of a random teenage girl who gets pregnant by engaging in irresponsible sexual activity, the consequence of pregnancy will be considered a highly outrageous taboo thing in the eastern culture and the family of that girl will force her against her wish to abort the child. On the other hand, it remains a fact that freedom of rights forms the hallmark of the Western culture and such a girl who gets herself pregnant in her teen years would be adequately supported by the government financially if she owns a wish to deliver the baby, though it would still not be considered respectable by the society.
