The paper tells that the term ‘team building’ refers to broad array of actions, offered to organizations, schools, religious or nonprofit associations or sports teams, intended for the advancement of team performance. Team building is referred to the group of individuals organized or selected to perform a specific task. It is followed by a range of practices, varying from both simple bonding exercises to complex simulations. Team building is a significant aspect in any environment, as it focuses to analyze the best in a team so as to certify self progression, optimistic communiqué, management skills and the capabilities to work harmoniously in a team to resolve the dilemma.
The exercises of team-building comprise of a variety of responsibilities intended to develop the group members and the capabilities required to work effectively. In present day’s context, the concept of team building is required in every aspect ranging from the games of kids to complex organizational conflict resolutions. The objective of a specific team of individuals can be successful only if everybody is committed, responsible and retain an excellent interpersonal relationship among them.
The various stages involved in the exercise of team building required for the resolution of conflicts in organizations include forming, storming, norming, performing and adjourning. Forming is the initial stage of team building exercise which is essential for resolving of conflicts of organizations. This is the polite phase, in which a team starts to obtain its shape required for performance of the objectives. In order to attain the requisite purpose, the varied roles, responsibilities, norms and strategies are specified to the members and a leader is also selected for this rationale.
It is one of the most imperative stages as all the members can interact with one another so as to gather innovative ideas and thoughts regarding the explicit issue. Therefore, after acquiring the general idea about the issue, the actual assessment or storming takes place leading to varied conflicts among co-members. Thus, it is also known as the storming or the conflict stage (Alleman & Colorado, 2004). Subsequently, the leader attempts to resolve the conflict so as to maintain coordination and synchronization among the members of the group.
This facilitates in resolving the conflicts among the members thereby accepting the various group norms and conventions. Therefore, all the members of a group seek to cooperate with one another along with descriptive views, ideas and judgments so as to ease the complexity of any problem. This enhances the commitments of the members in order to obtain the success of the goals. Thus, though this process a team takes shape of an efficient and cohesive unit working mutually thereby utilizing the talents of one another to attain the goals which marks the performing stage.
Therefore, balanced contribution leads to the resolution of the conflict leading to success of the issue resulting in the contravention of the team. Hence, from the above discussion, it can be clearly depicted that the concept and procedure of team-building can be utilized for resolving any organizational issue of modern era in an organization such as Coca-Cola.
