English Topic: what are the emotional and physical effects on soldiers after war? “Death” is an event that is to be faced by every living thing that enjoys the privilege of life. The thought of the event could be considerably terrifying for an individual or vice versa depending upon the perception of the person. Every religion preaches and prepared for this catastrophe in its own way. No matter what the description of the occurrence has been defined in the books of religion but the fact is that the emotional and psychological aspects are always the same. A scholar by the name of Elizabeth Kobler Ross have considerably investigated and arrived at concrete evidence to help oneself to die with dignity. According to her the process involves five emotional stages in the sequence. 1. Denial; the person is not ready to accept that this could be the time for him. 2. Anger; Realizing that brings in the feeling of anger. 3. Bargaining; Quest for options to gain more time. 4. Depression; Fading of hope and muddled realization. 5. Acceptance; Acknowledgment state with a reckoning of issues to be wrapped. (Businessballs.com, nd) Fears related to death; Hence, in each of the stage the psychological and emotional condition of the individual intensifies under the pressure of the fear of death. Some of the most evident fears are the fear of upcoming physical states like dependency, unbearable pain and helplessness. The other social fears include the farewell to family and other living possessions such as pets, separation from the business and social life etc. In addition, the emotional pressure is the most important that may extend to depression or anxiety resulting in the worsening of situation. Although evident is the fact that death is the vital truth of life but the challenge to look in the eyes of death is often terrifying. The victims of major traumas like rape or car accident, the soldiers fighting on borders and wars are the specific cases of this torment. The fact was only discovered after the twentieth century with reporting of mass cases of disorders with synonymous symptoms. (Tian) Each of the emotional symptoms had a strong connection with the physical state. Pertaining to the fact that an unwell emotional health can keep an individual caught in physical sickness due to stress anxiety and depression. Thus, it is a vital aspect to understand the fears related to circumstances for understanding the root of the problem. Research Aim and Objectives; The purpose of this research is to dig into the emotional and physical effects on soldiers after war. To understand the distress soldiers experience in war that chase them afterwards. The connection of emotional and physical states on the subjects with the influence the aftermaths lay on their practical life after wards. PTSD and Soldiers; The fact that soldiers not only face the fear of death throughout the war but the killing and environment of the war place also casts the most negative of its impact on the soldiers. The study was dormant before half a century; it was only after 1980 that the emotional and physical effects of war on soldiers were studied to acquire a clear picture view. Studies revealed the causes of various synonymous symptoms among the subject relate to the in adequate attempts of brain to cope with the past experiences resulting in tantrums. Hitherto, it was later discovered that more of the subjects were suffering from PTSD and shell shock that drag them to reexperience the period when they close eyes, relax or take sleep. The complaint of hallucination of being in the war state back is a normal trait. Also loud noises or resembling voices can also drag them to the past which can be regarded as the core reason behind the other list of complaints by the subjects. Social life of Subjects; The social lives of soldiers are never at ease because of their experiencing of watching close friends die by their eyes and having narrow escapes from death. The very state of mind remains awake stirring negative thoughts regarding the loved ones that abandon them to interact socially. The situation is even distressing for the family of the subject that shares the deeply scarring experience of the subjects and experience the aftermaths through behavioral impacts. Impacts on family relationship; The inability of soldiers to develop a healthy intimate relationship is the other thread of the fear of soldiers that does not allow them to form a bond because of the fear of death. The regular recalling of past experiences keeps the fear alive in them that abandons them to indulge in intimate relationships. It is confirmed by research that soldiers never tend to establish the same emotional tendency after the experience of war because of the distress they have suffered in the period of war. Hence, the subjects without adequate counseling rarely are able to plan a family. Physical damage of soldiers; Apart from the damage soldiers experience on war base the physical damage in connection to the emotional misbalances is also the other vital part of the study. The increased reactions to implicit or explicit memories awake certain chemical misbalances and chronic diseases such as low levels of cortical, neurobiology alterations and other stress related physical conditions such as irritatable bowel syndrome, heart attack and high blood pressure, ulcers, rheumatoid arthritis, insomnia and chronic fatigue, obesity, cancer and muscle aches Findings and Discussion; Therefore, the evidences witness the serious emotional and physical aftermaths experienced by soldier after war. Although, the illustrated behavioral and emotional problems can be treated with a vast variety of treatment that often proceed with counseling sessions followed by mild drug therapy to supplement the effects. The other alternatives include stress relieving practices from the use of martial arts. The purpose of the referred treatment is to individually address the stressors in soldiers with the help of counseling / therapy. The purpose of the therapy is to aid the soldier in learning methods to cope with past experiences and help them to feel better. Counseling therapy; The counseling of care provider (professional or religious) not only provides spiritual and moral support to the dying person but also encourage the dying person to look at their life positively by discussing their achievements and purpose of life. The therapy is aimed to provide the necessary emotional assistance in an organized manner to assist the subject in coping with the mental distress he is still suffering from and raising the confidence and self esteem of the individuals. Pertaining to the fact that the emotional compatibility of the individuals varies along with the experiences, it can be declared that there is no precise formula to aid the subject. It is only after the review of subject emotional states in a number of meetings that the level of depression is analyzed for treatment. Hence, the counseling therapy is intended to induce self control in the subjects by assisting the individual to be relieved from bottle up feelings leading to traumatic stress symptoms. The services of an efficient counseling therapist will result in the attainment of following attributes; The counseling itself is a painless and reliving session It does not unnecessarily press the soldier to dwell on past experiences. The soldier feels better after consultation. The therapist gives information and advice on need. The therapist makes the soldier understand the working of brain and tactics to dodge the function. It aids the soldier to attain the same relaxed state as that of before the trauma. It aids the soldier to increase knowledge without gobbledygook. Variety of techniques are applied on soldier after studying the personality of the individual The stressors are calmed at a rapid pace. It aids the subject by teaching him the various ways to cope with emotions. Various therapies and techniques are used until the most appropriate for the individual is attained. It teaches the soldier to jump out of the traumatic state when even feelings emerge without dwelling on them. The therapist is himself very well aware of modern studies of psychology, An efficient therapist brings difference in a few sessions. The people that surround the individual / subject feel the positive difference. The therapy aids the people around by teaching them to help the subject in relaxing deeply. Today it still means an individual’s loss of psychological control. The effects of constant and long standing stress are namely nervousness, tiredness, pressure, and intense petulance. Nervousness, depression and unease can be caused if stress is extreme and extended. The 10/ 90 principle marks individual’s ability to cope with behavioral reactions. Not only there can be emotions without expressions, there can be what appears to be expression without emotion. (Paul Ekman, 1999). What is emphasized to be taught to soldier with the help of 10/90 principle is the development of emotional intelligence through understanding needs and feelings of oneself and other and managing one’s own feelings to respond in appropriate ways. As Daniel Golemen states. “ If your emotional abilities aren’t in hand, if you don’t have self awareness, if you are not able to manage your distressing emotions, if you can’t have empathy and have empathy and have effective relationships, than no matter how smart you are; you are not going to get very far” (OLivier Serrat, 2009). ecisely, deaths whether from euthanasia or natural reasons have evident impact on care takers and the person dying. .
