Internship Reports at ADMA-OPCO Report One Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company (ADMA-OPCO) is among the largest producers of oil and gas along the offshore areas of the vast Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Noteworthy, this company has been among the pioneers in offshore extraction and production of oil with an experience of more than 50 years. This company thrives in the Lower Zakum and Umm Shaif oil fields as well as the Das Island Refineries. In tandem with the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 Developmental charter, ADMA-OPCO has played a key role in especially in the expansion of its facilities, offering employments, production development, and the upholding of corporate integrity across the Emirate. Most fundamentally is the establishment of new oil wells in Umm Lulu, Satah Al Razboot (SARB), and the NASR. I managed to secure an internship at the Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company. Under this opportunity, I got a good chance to expand my network of association with new individuals. The first day was relatively hectic owning to the familiarization to the ADMA-OPCO departments. Ideally, I was familiarized to the following departments; Projects and Engineering Business Unit, Drilling and Logistics Business Unit, Technical Standards and Services Business Unit, Umm Lulu and SARB Asset Business Unit, Umm Shaif and Nasser Asset Business Unit, Zakum Asset Business Unit, Subsurface Technology Business Unit, and the Corporate Support Business Unit. With these departments in place, I was able to know various people in various departments who played very instrumental roles towards my absorption as an intern in the organization. Additionally, exchanging ideas was made easier through the cordial relationship that ensued across the departments. During the internship period, I managed to conduct a study audit on the company. As vast as it was, the audit aimed at covering a variety of sectors within the company’s management and overall operations. The scope of the audit was constrained to the provision of well clean up and well testing services. Categorically, this audit covered the HSE Policy, Leadership and Management Commitment, Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Control, Health Risk Identification and Monitoring, Environmental Protection, HSE Planning, Objectives and Targets, Organization, Responsibilities and Resources, Standards and Procedures, Training Awareness and Competence, Equipment Control, Maintenance and Integrity Assurance, Crisis and Emergency Management, Accident Reporting, Investigation and Analysis, Monitoring and Performance Measurement, Audit Management Review and Improvement as well as the Technical Audit. After the assessment that was conducted in the form of a questionnaire, it was concluded that the associated risk was relatively high. Imperatively, the following sectors were found to be the strongholds of the company; HSE Policy, Environmental Protection, HSE Planning, Objectives and Targets, Organization Responsibilities and Resources, Standards and Procedures, Crisis and Emergency Management as well as Monitoring and Performance Measurement. The rest of the sections need improvements owing to the fact that their rated scores failed to meet the threshold requirements. While the Abu Dhabi Marine Operating Company might have received the good review from the audit, it goes without mention that they should pursue their goals further. In this regard, it is important to note that the areas that need improvements should not be underscored. For that matter, the management and the departments that are affected should put in more effort in a bid to improve in these sectors [ CITATION Ofu14 \l 1033 ]. With the successful deployment of these recommendations, the company will by far exceed its set objectives and developmental agenda. Report Two There was also a joint risk assessment for the use of Bullheading technique to kill the well with Influx Kick. The fundamental reason for this assessment was to establish the variety of safeguards that can be taken in line with the intensity of the risks that are established. Categorically, this assessment, in part, deployed the use of the PEAR (People, Assets, Environment, and Reputation) framework to offer an extensive view of the assessment. Additionally, the severity was measured on a five-point scale which- starting with the least severe- included; negligible, marginal, critical, severe, and catastrophic. Noteworthy, this assessment was also done parallel to the risk assessment mobilization that is associated with the entry of the Gulf Marine Services (GMS) into the fields. Ideally, this affair was found to be mildly risky but the ADMA-OPCO is very particular with any forms of competition. The assessment involved the analysis of the potential of GMS with close reference to the overall size of the market. Additionally, it paid particular attention to the type of products that the Gulf Marine Services intended to deal in. With such information in place, elaborate strategies can be formulated in a bid to help ADMA-OPCO achieve a consolidated competitive advantage. Additionally, another equally important activity under my internship was the conference that was themed on the achievement of sustainability. This particular conference was very educative and interactive towards the clear understanding of the concept of sustainability as one of the core proponents of any given firm. While it covered various individual aspects, it also incorporated the aspects revolving around the business environment of the company. The conference was well attended by the top management officials of ADMA-OPCO and other important stakeholders in the gas and oil industry. During these activities and experience at ADMA-OPCO, I was subjected to a variety of training either through direct tutorials or apprenticeship. Most paramount, I managed to experience the practical aspect of auditing as I witnessed the administration of the questionnaires and the analysis of the data collected. Additionally, I was part of the committee that helped in the risk assessments of the Bullheading Technique and the risk assessment mobilization of the Gulf Marine Services. Additionally, through networking and intensive discussions, I learned a lot of new concepts relevant to my field of study. It is, however, imperative to note that I have faced a variety of obstacles to the successful completion of my project. Primarily, I faced some difficulties in adapting to the culture of the company owing to its vast nature and the various departments. Additionally, consultation with the top management personnel was relatively difficult due to their fixed and busy schedules. In this regard, securing an appointment was rather difficult. Being an intern, my appointment bids were given less preference compared to other colleagues and trade partners or stakeholders for that matter. Noteworthy, these constraints did not affect my attitude towards the effective completion of my project at ADMA-OPCO.
