26th July 2008 “How does the Chinese Communist Party maintain its dominance over society?” 中国共产党 中國共產黨 In today’s world the knowledge has spread so much that everyone wants to be free but always to explore everything around them & go into the depths of the who’s, what’s & how’s of everything. Like look at this sign above, what does this sign means…we know it must have some meaning but what??? This sign above is of great importance, it means some value to some one(that can be a man or a nation),it is a symbol of unity & strength that combines the main key ingredients & makes a great nation & has always been trying to make it more powerful & successful everyday (the history keeps its promise). We are talking about none other than “China”. All great nations have great histories (great stories) of nation building. Similarly we start with china, one of the longest or rather say luckiest histories in the world. The first Chinese settlements on the Yellow River dated back more than 4,000 years ago. This country has several more amazing features. The land contains nearly 9.57 million square kilometers of which mountains occupy about one-third, numerous liquid flowing paths where one measures nearly three thousand miles called the Yangtze, and steppe as well as deserts. Not to forget a dazzling 1.3 billion inhabitants (Farah 124-129). The country went through horrible times during which Chinese citizens were suffering of starvation, anguish, and the outcome was death upon innocent beings. The main cause of this ordeal was a man who contributed to the change of the Republic of China. This intelligent but mad communist brought the concept of Communism to the third largest country of the world and that is no other than Mao Zedong (a great fan of Marx theory of communism) or rather say:” scientific socialism”.(Wikipedia: free encyclopedia) Although under a totally different concept of living, China is a well respected and a highly productive industrial nation. Forty-eight million representatives make up the* CCP 1today. The CCP functions in a completely different way because authority does not only control politics, but also it reaches deep into the lives of the Chinese (Farah 220). Many reside in agricultural sections where food and crops are produced. Work-strength depends on human and animal force, but nowadays farmers are able to purchase efficient tools (Farah 221). Since its founding in 1921, the Chinese Communist Party gradually expanded its guiding principles to incorporate the philosophical musings of Russias Vladimir Lenin as well as homegrown revolutionaries Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping. The party has traveled a long ideological path from its Marxist roots to its present struggle to maintain its relevance in Chinas modern and increasingly capitalistic society. Now the whole world looks at it as a country whose scale dwarfs the United States—1.3 billion people, four times Americas population. For more than a hundred years it was dreams of this magnitude that fascinated small groups of American missionaries and businessmen—1 billion souls to save; 2 billion armpits to deodorize—but it never amounted to anything. China was very big, but very poor, all that has changed totally. But now the very size and scale that seemed so alluring is beginning to look ominous. And Americans are wondering whether the "China threat" is nightmarishly real. China is now the worlds largest producer of coal, steel and cement, the second largest consumer of energy and the third largest importer of oil, which is why gas prices are soaring. Chinas exports to the United States have grown by 1,600 percent over the past 15 years, and U.S. exports to China have grown by 415 percent. All these figures are so thrilling to here. At the height of the Industrial Revolution, Britain was called "the workshop of the world." That title surely belongs to China today. It manufactures two thirds of the worlds copiers, microwave ovens, DVD players and shoes. China’s rise is no longer a prediction. It is a fact. It is already the worlds fastest-growing large economy, and the second largest holder of foreign-exchange reserves, mainly dollars. It has the worlds largest army (2.5 million men) and the fourth largest defense budget, which is rising by more than 10 percent annually. There have been so many political changes in this society & CCP has always been the leading character in it but when people talk about china today they inevitably mention its unique culture. Confucianism (It focuses on human morality and good deeds), is said to be at the heart of this nation’s psyche, and it is this tradition-of discipline, learning and devotion to elders-that explains Chinas extraordinary success, though there is quite a difference between the two ideologies. But Confucianism has been around for centuries, during much of which China was poor, backward and stagnant. That led this society to adopt a mush simplified field that is communism. But that has totally changed and yet, its clear that the Chinese government deserves much credit for its ability to plan and manage the countrys development. For China, emotion seems to get in the way. Initially starting with communism but now having abandoned communism, the Communist Party has been using nationalism as the glue that keeps China together. The one who’s the role is Experts say that the Chinese Communist Party has been seriously discussing political reforms and studying dominant single parties from Sweden to Singapore, to understand how it might maintain its position in a more open political system. "The smartest people in the government are studying these issues," (well-placed resident: Beijing). But politics is often about more than smarts. In any event, how Beijings mandarins end up handling its own people might have much to do with how China ends up handling the world. In my opinion concluding, CPC remains determined to maintain control over society, using over the past 20 years an increasing number of laws and regulations as a means to this end. According to a Russian expert more than 80-year history of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is a glorious chronicle of the successful practice of the Communism theory that we all agree as well. Years from its founding in 1921, the CPC has now become the largest and the most influential party in the world. In particular over the past years, the CPC has carried out a successful policy of reform and opening-up, thanks to which China has achieved sustained and steady economic growth and the Chinese people have lived a better life & that is something that helped them in maintaining their dominance over their society.One reason being is expanding the partys traditional membership from its traditional worker and peasant vanguard to also include entrepreneurs now. not just this but that the party represents the needs of advanced forces of production such as private and high-tech firms, advanced culture, and the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the Chinese people. ‘The party acknowledges the signs of social unrest throughout China over unemployment, unpaid government wages and corruption. However in many other views, many people think that, however, that the party in China will not last forever, although few predict an imminent collapse reason being the highlighted growing problems from the rising masses of unemployed sloughed off from the reform of state-owned enterprises and Chinas that is raising its head now, tottering banking system, beset by what some say are nonperforming loans equivalent to 50% of Chinas gross domestic product. Not just this but Official corruption and a legal system that is dominated by the party rather than principles of fairness are also seen as possible causes for the partys eventual downfall.
