The internal unrest encountered in Bahrain in 2011 was dealt with through the help from other Gulf States3. However, these Gulf States would not help Bahrain in protecting it from outside threats, such as Iran. These states do not agree on how power should be divided among the Gulf States. One side advocates the Sunni while the other advocates for the Shea. The US shields Bahrain from external terrorism and Iran through discouraging nuclear programs by the use of economic pressure.
