In this scenario, some very crucial issues need to be considered that whether the American exit from Iraq would relieve it of possible future attacks or the occupation of the territory stands indifferent. To study this we must first size up the effect US invasion has had on Iraq. What was meant to be a disarmament campaign for the weapons of mass destruction has turned into a bloodbath.

Thus, planning a terrorist attack outside the borders of Iraq can in a way be easier if the US is to withdraw its forces from Iraq. However, a withdrawal can also have some positive outcomes. Firstly, the political state of Iraq would get a hope of revival. True democracy can be prevalent if Iraq is left in the hands of its people. Moreover, the feeling of insecurity and fear in the hearts of Iraqi civilians would diminish. Economic state of Iraq is also subject to improve once it recovers politically concentrating on foreign trade and encouraged commercial activities.

All the credit for this would be attributed to the US. Contrary to this, we must now attempt to gauge the impact of a US exit on terrorism against the US with a different perspective. It is hardly possible to deny the fact that these terrorist activities have already begun. Another important fact is that a terrorist attack is usually very carefully planned hence its planning begins well before its execution. So, even if the US exits, it is unlikely that these terrorists will shelf their plans, they are after all 'terrorists'.

In addition, Iraqis will still have the strong negative feelings of American occupation era to motivate such activities. To give a reason to terrorists to attack some place is like giving fuel to a fire. Thus, the terrorists already have their reasons and a simple exit by the US will not at all deter them. Additionally, a US exit will give a chance to the Iraqis to get up on their feet again, and if recruited by terrorist elements, it will in no way reduce the possibility of attacks on the US.

However, if the US actually decides to stay on, the possibility of an Iraqi revival would be eliminated, but international terrorist elements will only become deadlier and more brutal in their attacks. To conclude, it would not be impertinent to suggest that this 'War on Terror' has spawned more terrorists than it has wiped out. If the US allies are unhappy with them for having misinformation about the weapons in Iraq, consider the feelings of those Iraqis whose homes have been ripped apart due to this 'misinformation'.

Although a quick departure from Iraq seems not only justified but overdue as well, its impact on possible terrorist threats does not seem very favorable. Therefore, at present the benefits of occupying Iraq with some provision of rights and freedom to the civilians far outweigh the benefits of withdrawing troops from Iraq. American authorities should keep a rigorous check on injustices and promote a world where people live and let others live.
