Ethics Paper Essay: Insights of the Morality in Business

From the beginning, let's look at the etymological origin of the word "ethics", which came from the Greek and ancient word "etos" and meant living together as a place of social residence. The strategic meaning of the word later turned into custom, character, temperament. In the history of the word, there was such an important position in the customs and characters of people who are born into life together.

Even Aristotle, the great philosopher of antiquity defined the meaning of the word "ethos" as a character or temperament and put it in the basis of the adjective "ethicos", the meaning of which is gaining new one - "ethical", defining the goodness of human character, i.e., wisdom, justice and other.

The responsibility of character does not coincide with the charity of reason, according to Aristotle. And since then, he has also formed a noun as a definition of the social science that studies ethical virtues - "ethice". It is the name of science and has remained from those distant times (IV century BC) to the present day.

The strategic history of this word was repeated in ancient Rome when the word "mos" was taken as a basic plan as a Latin example of the word "etos". Then the meaning of this word expanded to several new meanings, such as human character, order, fashion, and clothing. Even the ancient thinker Cicero from the top of the Greek experience, and directly referring to the work of Aristotle, defined a new word "moralitas", which means morality, this noun Cicero derived from the adjective "moralis" - the character of man, custom.

It turned out that the Roman and Greek analogs etymologically coincided in the strategic meaning plan: the Greek "ethice" and "moralitas" — Roman. So it turns out that the terms were determined not by human social consciousness, but by ancient thinkers.

Business ethics is the system of general strategic responsibility norms, rules of conduct of the business company, its interaction, and communication. It is manifested at the so-called micro-levels - relationships in organizations, and macro-levels - the relationship between business entities. Business ethics establishes the regulation of relations between entrepreneurs, managers, business people, and their partners, customers, employees, competitors, stakeholders, and more.

This discipline regulates the relationship between market participants in compliance with contractual obligations and compliance with the law, a company, and its stakeholders. It includes contractual obligations of a company, damages, compliance with trademark rules, regulations, advertising, protection of commercial and industrial property, and joint venture agreements with stakeholders.

It is also the case that certain rules of business ethics are included in terms of certain business agreements, such as conscientious performance, reasonable actions, compliance with obligations for a company and its stakeholders, etc. One of the most important moral norms that business should be guided by is the legality of all business enterprises. Without respect for the law, a company with stakeholders cannot exist in any developed country.

On the other hand, the state should support and stimulate the improvement of moral norms of business, which includes the theory of business relations, honesty, integrity, and so on.

Business ethics regulates the relationship between business and the consumer, which in a state governed by the rule of law must comply with the theory of honesty, responsibility, and integrity in relation to the requirements and desires of the consumer and stakeholders. It applies primarily to advertising, which must be honest, credible, and useful to the consumer, a company, and its stakeholders.

As well as these theory and plan issues should imply consumer requirements to improve the range, services, availability, and transparency of the characteristics of a product or service, etc. Also, business responsibility should help the business company to comply with technical standards, guests, quality standards of products and services, as well as relationships with stakeholders.

As for leadership reflected in this ethics paper essay, due to moral principles, it must, through its decisions and the plan theory actions, help to raise the living standards of both the consumer and subordinates of a company. It also applies to social partnerships, which should be based on decency, transparency of terms, and responsibility for all terms of the agreement between a company and stakeholders.

The concept of business social responsibility and its strategic functioning is closely related to the philosophical question of the compatibility of business plan and the theory of ethics. Because modern society is subject to market relations, normal social behavior is market behavior, and non-market behavior is considered incorrect.

However, there are many strategic contradictions in the relationship between business and ethics, so in this area of life, there is a specific morality, the study of which is engaged in the business plan of a company.

The first principle on which a business company is based on the principle of economic feasibility. The second principle of business ethics is situational. An individual responsibility plan is the third principle.

You can still consider economic theory as relevant to the business ethics of a company in general. Thus, the set of norms of behavior of the entrepreneur, presented by the company to its nature of communication between business participants to the style of work theory at a company. Also, the data on moral and ethical concepts, requirements for the style of work, the appearance of the businessman is important for the strategic business plan.

The culture of negotiations, documentation, use of ethical methods of competition are important issues within the relationships between stakeholders and owners of a company. Also, the concept of business morality includes business etiquette, which includes rules governing the manner of strategic communication between business partners and stakeholders, the image of the businessman, and the style of doing business.

Here are the basic principles of businessman behavior, the provisions of the code of ethics:

  • Entrepreneurs must be convinced of the usefulness of their work at a company, and not only for themselves but also for others
  • Must be aware of the ability and desire of those around him to work
  • To regard their company activity as not just a business, but an attractive creative activity
  • Competition and cooperation for the businessman are integral aspects of activity at a company
  • The entrepreneur respects competence, laws, and professionalism
  • Appreciates education, science, and technology.

Corporate social responsibility is an integral and important aspect of business morality. In other words, businesses must meet social goals. In developing a business, in addition to material obligations to the state and society, it must create jobs, which will promote the employment of citizens, as well as increase the welfare of citizens. Thus, in addition to economic achievements, the entrepreneur must strive for social achievements in the field of public health, nature and environmental protection, consumer protection, and so on.

As a result, we must note that the role of ethics and morality in society cannot be overestimated because the improvement in this area has no boundaries. It is especially true of business. Therefore, business ethics should interfere in the business relations of modern business people as never before. Unfortunately, the control over the observance of ethical rules cannot be ensured due to any control body and partners.

Improving the moral and ethical norms of business should provide proper education and upbringing. Therefore, in any strategic business schools and universities, it is necessary to take a responsible approach to the study of business ethics and education of future entrepreneurs.
