Almost Famous I was driving on the highway. I had no clue about the directions that guided me I did not know where they were escorting me to, I justkept driving with tears rushing down my eyes I could feel my head exploding and my heart skipping beat after beat I almost had a flashback of my whole life I thought this was the end of my life which was in fact getting out of control as hours turned into days and days turning into months; I had lost all the clout to think rationally. The only one problem which I was facing in my life was that I was not facing only one problem. It was me against the world. I was entirely in the midst of idiocy of the long run of life. I thought I could not survive, I did not know whom I was running away from or running to. I had no one to blame, just when my eyes caught the glimpse of superman action figure that belonged to my 8-year-old son. I realized I wanted a superman to fix my problems too because I was no super-woman. I could not take charge of my existence all on my own. I had to work to feed not only my baby but myself. It is a hard job to be a single divorced parent in the land of the free. Just then I came to realize that there are no such individuals as a fairy God mother or Superman for that matter. Quite surprisingly and very fit to my situations, the radio started to play Hero by Mariah Carey. I had heard the song before too but this time every single word of the song touched my heart and gave me a reason not to give up on my life because I had one more life to protect. Being dependent on the thought that a hero will save me when the Hero is me was suitable for my son but being an adult I did not have to be scared of my own persona and what my personality actually was. It was high time I stopped to fool around and run away from my life, the more I ran the more it backfired on me, so I guess no deck of tarot cards can solve my problems, it was up to me to take a stand and finally I will face life once and for all if not for myself then for my baby.      Later when I reached my home I started to feel quite relaxed even though my problems stayed exactly the same as they were before. I saw my son fast asleep clutching on to his teddy and I can safely say that particular scenario gave me a feeling of being absolute. I finally saw all the satisfaction in my baby; I was trying to run away from home when there is no such place like home. As I tucked myself into the bed sheets I thought of Mariah Carey, the eminent diva who acquires an exquisite eight-octave choral range which outstood in the early 90s and today. It takes five to ten minutes for me to sleep so I pursued my notion on her. She outrivaled to grow in to one of the crest female vocalists of the decade. I may not even have the ability to sing in my bathroom. But somewhere inside me I felt more curious of what exactly Mariah felt when she expressed her exceptional song writing abilities in the song Hero. I have heard of Mariahs bizarre behavior in public. But despite the odds of the media and paparazzi specifically targeting the vulnerable singers life, performances and the films unintentionally abrupt manner, she stood strong when it all came back and back fired her! She might be having a trillion accessories to match every of her million dollar outfits but she should be wearing her favorite high school loose soft t-shirt at night like me. Being divorced like Mariah, it forced me to relate myself with her more and more. The onetime pop diva faced nervous breakdown which I felt previously tonight, I thanked God that I did not end up doing something extreme that I made my self one step closer to be in mental hospital like Mariah as her behavior and increasing mental collapses had made her getting admission in Connecticut mental hospital. It seemed almost predictable about that she could not stay strong and she did not have the strength of any failure. It was inevitable to all the people who bore witness to her multiple meltdowns in the public. She not only faced disappointment from her movie glitters but also faced the failure of complementary album by the same name. It came into view that Mariah was developing into a one time wonder megastar who was about to reach her nadir and rock bottom. She proved them wrong and now recently her best single "We belong together" has turned out to be reaching the top of the billboard charts. Mariah is right when she says that it is a long road when we have to face the world alone and it is stupid of me being born in the local farm in sweet home Alabama to compare myself to the billionaire diva that is born in Huntington, New York. We all are humans irrespective of who we are or where we live or who we hang out with. We all are facing highs and lows of life and it is quite shallow of us to think of ourselves as the neediest amongst a society where others could be more desperate. I comprehended that on the road, I was trying to escape not only from the problems which actually were generated by me but also from my own reflection and shadow which was quite selfish of me at the same time. I try harder to put on the food the table every evening for my son. I had always tried to keep him shelter from my problems. But I guess by the end of the day, me and Mariah are not perfect so we are bound to make mistakes but the real deal is that how much we learn from what we did wrong and may be by doing that we might have a chance that we will find better days. Mariah could not possibly reach to the place where she is now by staring at the blank page before her with the pen in her hand; she believed that no one can speak the thoughts in her head and she lived those thoughts and words unspoken, she did not speak the words she sang them out loud and inspired people like me. She did not think if anything she wrote is good enough. She stood firm like the exact way I am now. She took her chance and now its mine to turn over a new leaf. It is strange how few words of a song can change the whole perception of life and deliberation within moments. I did not want my son to end up in a foster home. I want to be proud of me. And because of a 4 minutes and 20 seconds song Hero, tonight was the night that world began again for me and I will cherish each and every moment of this experience as it has given me a new ray of hope for the times to come.
