There are also very limited opportunities for women in professional sports and numerous other areas that need some level of physical strength, as well as in the cases where there is an aspect of isolation or danger. Society also makes the women feel less safe than the men and they have to persevere through increased scrutiny concerning the situations they find themselves in.
Gender is constructed socially and not biologically, therefore, any form of inequality based on gender becomes difficult to evaluate and deal with (Brym & Lie, 2010). Any distinctions associated with biological sex can be assessed in a statistical manner, although gender differentials involve more refined distinctions concerning the roles of males and females. The achievement of gender parity in schools is one of the steps that can be taken towards gender equality and while parity remains a quantitative aspect, equality can be considered as qualitative.
Protecting and promoting of gender equality through human rights needs more than just a numerical balance, as it also needs a conceptual balance as well as a thorough effort to eliminate inequality.
