Baghdad Battery and Pyramid The world is an amazing place. With all the animals around, flying birds and exotic organisms seem so phenomenal. However, the great inventions fascinate me more about this place. I never thought I would live to watch objects perform functions that are next to impossible like flying. During the aircraft invention, I personally thought that it was voodoo magic. According to me, the only things that could fly were birds and angels alone so the creation of flying objects awed me. That however, is not the only thing stirred my adventurous spirit. The past intrigued me even more. Existing historical works give us a past, which seem so unreal and amazing. The existence of humongous animals that dwelt million years ago known as dinosaurs and mammoths, man eating raw meat, such things drove my adventurous spirit into wanting to discover more. The fact that all that happened prior to my existence and I did not get the chance to witness it all happen, made me restless. I had sleepless nights, many imaginations made me perturbed. I could not rest a second knowing that all these events passed without me witnessing. I felt jealous of the crude man for he was there and I was not. Sometimes I even despised my folks for conceiving after all the happenings. It was now obvious that I was obsessed with the past. The only thing that would calm my spirits was to visit the past and experience the happening of the events. Though it seemed absurd, I was determined to accomplish my mission. My enthusiasm brought zeal unto me. My mission was to visit my past and nothing would make me back down. My name is Robert Spencer and this is my story. I was born by a Persian mother and an Arabic father in the year 1345 of April. My mother was poor and her background was not at all stable. She lived by the hand and her little income is what sustained us. Alice Spenser was her name. Her parents who also unfortunately happened to be my grandparents disowned her when she got pregnant with me. She came from a strict background with tight moral values. Her father’s image came first then his family followed suit. Being a deacon in the church his image was very important in the society. That is the main reason her father could not tolerate early pregnancies. My father of came to Persia as a scholar. He met my mum in church and my mother mesmerized him with her aesthetical endowment. One thing led to the other and without knowing my mum was pregnant. It did not occur to her that she was with child until my dad had already left. With no way of informing my father and lack of courage of facing my grandfather’s wrath, she agreed to leave and we relocated to Egypt. My father went back to Persia looking for my mother but could not find her. I became fatherless since that day. Life was tough in Egypt. My mother could not afford to educate me so I did simple tasks like selling newspaper to help sustain ourselves. During my free time, I would go to the library and read on interesting literature. Reading became my new love. Knowing new things created a need of frequenting the library. The books in the library helped me to know about the history of humanity and many other things. That is when my urge for travelling back in time grew. I dropped my work as a newspaper vendor and became an assistant in the library to have more reading time. It came with its advantages for I was able to borrow books from the library. One day I carried a book on Egyptian history and I realized it had many interesting things. In this particular book, I read about a magician who also added up as a witch doctor and a thief. His name was Hyrus the Great. He used to treat the ailing and entertain the pharaoh and in return, the pharaoh gave him gold as payment. The book further stated that he was able to stop time and everything would halt and he would go to the palace and business places and steal gold and myrrh. This part of information fascinated me a lot. The book stated that he used a machine to bring time to a halt and carry out his escapades. However, it only gave a brief description of the machine with little details. The machine made startled and interested in it. Maybe this was the answer to my entire questions. This would quench the thirst of that perturbed adventurous spirit I had. The remaining period of my life, I spent trying to recreate the machine while getting information from the library’s books. Hyrum’s machine however was only able to stop time while the machine I was creating purposed mainly to take me back to the past. That proved to be a major problem. Being a magician, Hyrum used magic to operate his machine. However, this was not applicable to my machine for I was not a magician. Either way my determination deterred all negative energy that discouraged me from finishing my creation. With zeal and patience, my work bore fruits. The creation was a success and I was ready to test my creation. My machine however had few modifications. I used the knowledge given from books of science to modify my creation. At last, I had a machine that could alter time. My work for 20 years had paid off. It consisted of a chair, an engine powered by petrol fuel, a clock to set the amount I needed to travel back and space for my luggage. If my machine functioned properly not only would I witness the past but also be famous for my invention. My mother thought I was being hysterical and saw all of that as a joke. Maybe if she witnessed my machine as it functioned, she will be convinced. Therefore, I set to prepare for my journey to the past. I needed a lot of petrol fuel to travel to the past and back. I would also need a lot of food for the people in past ate raw meet and fruits. I was to travel a million years back to time. Everything required for the journey back was intact. The food, clothes my camera to take pictures of remarkable sceneries, fuel and all that remained was to enter into my machine and travel to the past. I had to wait for the following day for departure. The following day I woke up early ready for my journey. My mother was still in deep slumber and disturbing her was the least that I would do. I was restless and extra excited about the whole thing. I set the timer and started the small engine. I was to travel back a million years time and I knew the journey would not be an easy one. I set for my journey, sat on the seat and all off a sudden the atmosphere seemed blurry. I started going in circles and dusty clouds filled the atmosphere. The environment became shaky as if a tremor was occurring. Darkness took over and I started feeling dizzy. Many questions ran through my mind. “What if the machine failed?” All I knew was that there was no backing down. I felt a slight knock on the back of my head. It felt as if someone was pocking me with a stick. The continuous poke made me irritated. It forced me to open my eyes. I was confused at first; I did not know where I was. This made me happy in a way because it proved that my invention was a success. However, the environment that I was in brought disappointment unto my eyes. The surrounding encompassed many developed buildings constructed in a nice way with good structures. This was different from what I had expected. The person poking me affirmed my dismay. He was not as crude and primitive as I had expected. He seemed ancient but civilized. He could even speak English. It then dawned to me that I had not reached my destination. I checked my machine to check on the cause of the failure and realized that my battery had run dry. I was doomed. Before I could recollect myself, soldiers on chariots rode by and arrested me. Their features seemed rather quire. I had read about such soldiers in Egyptian history books. This is when I realized that I was still in Egypt. I had only travelled back thousands of years before the battery malfunctioned. The pharaoh summoned me and I ordered me to identify myself. They considered me an intruder and I had to prove that I had negative intentions to gain their favor. I explained my story and proved of its truth by showing them some machines, which surprised them. The camera is what intrigued them most. They considered me a superior being. During that period, the pyramid were still under construction and due to the intellectual ability which I posses, the pharaoh gave me a role as the assistant of Prince Moses the administrator. I thought of ways of both advancing the pyramids and charging the source of power of my machine. The pyramid would serve as my source of power so I used the knowledge I gathered from reading to design the source. I drafted a plan and gave it to the administrator who approved it for implementation. The plan entailed the use Tufa limestone, white in color to cover the exterior parts of the pyramid. The limestone acted as an insulator to control the release of electricity in the pyramid. The covering done will not leave space allowances on the pyramid. The block of stone used in the construction of the interior part of the pyramid came from a different type of limestone that has crystal in it. This type of limestone is a good electricity conductor and does not contain too much metallic characteristics. Its nature allows the transmission of electricity at its maximum. The pyramid contained lined shafts made of granite. Granite is a radioactive substance, which permits ionization of air contained in the shafts. This made granite a good conductor. The same way the conducting materials operate in a cable is the same way the electricity inside the pyramid would operate after completion of construction. However, for electricity to be generated a source of energy is needed. The area where the pyramid is situated contains many underground water channels. The area where the pyramid is situated is the Giza plateau. The space within the pyramids and the layer of limestone is full of water that passes through it. I named the rocks that transmit electricity upwards and redirect the water underground as Aquifers. The water from River Nile passes through the aquifer and produces electric current that the pyramid would use. The River Nile would be the source of energy. I designed the underground chambers within the pyramid to be conductors charged with physic-electricity. The conductors consist of granite. The conducted electricity flows from the underground to the upper chambers of the pyramid. The granite does the conducting because of its good conductive nature. The formed electromagnetic field will move to the upper layers of the chamber in high concentration undergoing conduction by a gold capstone constructed at the pyramids top to act as a good conductor. All that remained was a capacitor that would complete the source of power and soon Egypt would flourish with electricity and I will be able to return home. I also designed a chest that would encompass the capacitor. The chest is located where the pyramids conductor require placement. If present, then the pyramid will conduct enough electricity to feed the whole of Egypt. Its design is in such a way that will allow the situation of a super conductor to aid the supply of the ample electricity enough to fit the whole of Egypt. The Ark of the Covenant would act as a conductor and the dimensions of the ark will fit perfectly in the chest made of stone. With everything in place, Egypt will take the course to success. The pharaoh offered ample resources for use in construction including human labor from Israelites. Glory will come to Egypt without limits. The construction process was swift and within a short period, the pyramid was complete. Electricity will change the civilization of Egypt. The success made the pharaoh promote me to the chief of accounts in Egypt. I was enjoying myself until I even forgot about my going back to the future. Gold plating reformed and plated gold came out finer and many ornaments created. The Egyptians were now using wireless electric lamps to decorate the interiors of the pyramid. Andreas light house received lighting 24 hours a day. The pyramid acted as the chief source of energy and Egypt was receiving glory from different regions. King Ramsey ordered that my name dwell besides his on the interior walls because of the success I brought to Egypt. All seemed to go wall until controversies concerning Moses the adopted son of King Ramsey arose. Moses was an Israelite and he and the Israelites had to evacuate Egypt since the invention of electricity rendered human labor useless. The Israelites however carried the Ark of Covenant with them and the pyramid did not have a capacitor. Without the Ark, leaving Ancient Egypt seemed impossible. However, I used the little knowledge I had to create a simple source of current to power my machine, simple but could produce current. I named this invention the Baghdad Battery. The current produced sustained my return to the present but the future of Egypt was heading towards a coalition course with lack of electricity. War erupted in Egypt as I left. I was lucky. On reaching the future, I read in historical books about Moses drowning Egyptians in the Red Sea. That probably occurred during the war that had erupted prior to my departure from Ancient Egypt. However, what puzzled me was the fact that my name did not exist in any historical texts amidst my great contribution in building Egypt. Perhaps it was all a dream. Maybe some archeologist will one day discover that there was a man who led Egypt to glory by creating electricity. I will leave that to fate and focus on making my time machine known globally.
