Question 1. The five attributes that Thiroux says must be present in order for any moral system to be livable and workable are Justice or Fairness,Value of Life,Individual Freedom,Truth telling or Honesty, Goodness or Rightness. These are the most basic attributes that a moral system must posses. I agree with all the attributes which Thiroux has mentioned. These form the core of the moral system which helps an individual and a society to prosper. If the moral system has goodness, then there is honesty which in turn brings Justice and fairness to the people around.

All the three factors when combined give freedom to an individual and people start valuing their life. 2. I agree that without denying Individual freedom, unity and order in a moral system is a big problem. Once an Individual is given full freedom, the Individual does not realize his actions towards others. His act of freedom might hurt others which in turn causes dispute among individuals. Hence freedom of individuals has to be denied in order to attain unity in a moral system. 3. As per Thiroux, the five basic principles are Justice – For a good moral system, the basic quality is to being equal to all.

Value of Life- one must understand his and others value of their lifeIndividual Freedom – Every Individual must be given enough freedom to expressTruth telling – The quality of telling truth has to be the most important aspect since it builds trust among people.Goodness – Act of goodness bonds people. 4. I would not eliminate any of these principles. These are the basic requirements for a moral system to be workable. 5. Other than the given principles in this chapter, the principle of respect can be added.

For a moral system to be working well, one has to respect each other. 6. The following must be the priority in which the principles must be followed:Justice or Fairness,Value of LifeTruth telling or HonestyGoodness or RightnessIndividual Freedom7. One must consider the importance of a situation before applying moral principles. He should asses if during that situation, applying moral principles will affect that person or not.8. I use all the principles in my day to day life. I try to have my own freedom when required and that freedom is within my limits.

I always try to value my life and make sure that I am good to others. Along with enjoying my regular activities, I also believe in being fair to the people and to the society around you. There have been times when I could not be good to people but I have always tried my best in being good to the people around me. 9. I have tried to resolve the four moral issues by following Thiroux’s principles in my day to day life. By following these, I believe I will be able to overcome these major issues.
