This was as a result of a bi-partisan push for the US to take action and pressure on UN by her senators and human right activists by withdrawing a big chunk of its funding. The Clinton administration realized a high political cost if they intervened via UN troops. This was as a result of the previous experience in Somalia that resulted to the killing of 18 troops and was termed disastrous. Syria’s situation was different because it was complex. It would take much monetary help through the use of militia. “Rwanda involved the use of small arms.” (The Gurdian) Question 2 According to Gilligan, care ethics is a normative theory. This means it is a theory about what makes right or wrong of ones actions. It is known as moral theory. The contrast between ethics of care and ethics of justice is clear when one seems to incorporate moral reasoning to professional discipline substances. The Western morality concept is dominant of rights and justice in its basing. Other principles are formal rationality, impartiality, and impersonality which are universal. They form the basis of moral development and are the bedrock of the dormant Western morality conception. “Gilligan’s concept contrast with ethic of justice based of relationship and care.” (Virginia) Question 3 Walzer’s version of dirty hand theory is based on ethics of war in the political sphere’s quest for power. “He argues that if distributive justice is based on the standards of complex equality then manager selection is the entity of the employees.” (Baarda A and M) This is contrary to the experience of the vast majority in today’s economy that justifies an actor that causes some suffering for the greater good. Mill’s principles bring a different perspective because it gives the idea that happiness is promoted by any action that does not produce pain. Both pain producing and non-pain producing actions contribute to the overall level of society’s happiness. Mills principles do not engage in evil practices to attain happiness. Question 4 Identical victims are known to be survivors of a scene who possess injuries in their bodies. These injuries are used to separate them from the rest who are in the scene. Therefore the injuries are signs for identity that is clear and easy to detect. Statistical victims are known to be the collective identity of victims in line to the common trail among them. “The trail may be racial or gender.” (Tom) This is common in determining the number of victims with ease and faster. Statistical victims can be done by injury but in the category of how deep and serious the victim is hurt. Speer use animal symbols in his designs to compel and attract the community concept. It was ideologically significant to the people and reflected to vital components of the society. It determined features of social lives in relation to the means of governance describing legal status and governing forms. Question 2 Integrity is a concept that constitutes actions, methods, values, expectations, outcomes and principles. It is a personal choice that is uncompromising and consistent to honor artistic, spiritual and ethical values. It is known as nonviolent communication to self. In preserving integrity, Brault states “you do not wake up one morning a bad person. It happens by a thousand tiny surrenders of self-respect to self-interest.” (Robert)The three components of integrity are self confidence, self esteem and character development. The components reveal humility, sense of self and promote high self esteem in the society in relation to others. The Oxford press demonstrates integrity by being assertive so as to defend ethical positions without being aggressive. They also avoid lies and learn to be responsible of their actions. Carter uses this model is revealed practically when Nancy is informed of order delivery but before finishing with the client, the shipment is damaged by one of the warehouse team. The boss tries to convince her to place the problem on the tracking company in case of complains from the client. (Patrick) This is in bid to protect the image of the company. Taking the right steps and avoiding dishonesty to all parties is vital in this state. Question 3 The Freeh Report found it “reasonable to conclude that, in order to avoid the consequences of bad publicity, the most powerful leaders at the University … repeatedly concealed critical facts relating to Sandusky’s child abuse from the authorities.” (Lyse) According to behavioral ethics, it is important to watch ethics unwrapped so that you can do the right thing then inform others too. In line with above statement, university leadership had to weigh on the persuasive college culture that is emblematic. The culture reveals the importance of reputation more than transparency, academic quality, accountability and ethics. Anne Neal States “It also underscores the distressing fact that, in too many places, the academic mission has taken a back seat to athletics.” (Mendonca, Manuel and Kanungo) The failure to take ethical actions is brought by the desire to avoid negative publicity. This could result to lack of empathy for victims of child abuse, Lack of oversight role by the board of trustees and ignorance of laws and child abuse issues among others. In the end it develops a culture of reverence for football programs which are ingrained at all campus community levels ignoring the essential matters of priority. (Christopher) Unethical behaviors are global challenge that tampers with decision making and responsible leadership. It is the primary concern of all organizations, leaders and managers to deal with ethical challenges. It is important as leaders to understand how people interpret, experience and evaluate morality and ethics whenever they are making decisions. (John) Behavioral ethics is vital in building quality relationships and transforming effective climate for working. Leadership requires understanding behavioral approaches so as to get the best management of trust, social influence and ethics in both interpersonal and global relationships.
