Forging Relationships between Opposing Ideas - Essay Example

In reality, there is not a new problem to the human race but an old one seen from another angle. For centuries, people fought for their rights in opposition to what others believed. For instance, there was a time when Blacks were believed to be animals which justified the harsh treatment placed on them like slaves. It took a lot of years and a lot of lives sacrificed for the Blacks to finally be recognized and treated as people but the result is a freedom that many Black people now enjoy. Similarly, such manners of achieving one’s rights can be selected as means to balance the situation. However, in the manner mentioned earlier, events would be chaotic. Thus, perhaps, a more well-mannered and educated means can be used, which is good communication. There are many examples of people who fought for their rights in such a manner and they equally succeeded in their objectives. The process may be slow but effective. We are human beings and it is believed that as humans, we are social beings able to work our differences through communication. There may be disagreements initially because of differing opinions but the realization that human beings should act humanely should be kept among us to forge a peaceful and successful relationship through open-mindedness.
