Love makes us feel appreciated because we get a lift whenever we experience it. Something as simple as saying “I love you” can mean so much to the person who is receiving it. If this was said by anyone else then it would not have any strong connotations, yet the words come alive when they are said by someone who we have true feelings for. We feel wanted and accepted when someone decides to share their love with us. This love does not just have to by in a physical way—it could be from someone who is simply a friend. The different levels of love derive from the person or people that it is being shared with. Love between a couple and love between two friends are not on the same level. One goes to a deeper level while the other is rather barely scratches the surface. Love helps develop character in us because we truly understand what it is to trust someone else completely. It is only when we learn to love others that we can truly appreciate them for who they are. While love may be the most obvious virtue, there are other traits that can develop out of love. Characteristics such as patience, kindness, and forgiveness all come from the feelings of love that we have with one another. These are traits that cannot be taught but have to be learned through the process of loving someone else unconditionally. Finally, love gives us a reason to live because it gives us hope that something better is always out there. Without a reason to live, many people give up because they feel that they have no hope. It does not matter whether someone is rich or poor; everyone needs to feel loved so that they feel part of humanity. Love is the greatest gift that we can give to someone because it is freely given and freely received.

Although the word marriage is in the title, the love described in the poem is not limited to the love between husband and wife. Indeed, “the marriage of true minds” refers to the great love between two persons such that they are now
The perfect example of pure love is provided by Shakespeare in his famous love story of Romeo and Juliet. Nobody can escape from love because people love not for something, but despite of something. As John Gray has noted, "when men and women are able to respect and accept their differences then love has a chance to blossom".
According to the report romantic love and close friendship relationships usually involve intimacy that is a form of love where two parties share in matters regarding their physical lives. Love is an affection among people that gives meaning to life and spurs vibrancy and vitality in the social construction.

Generally, human needs and desires are similar regardless of skin color, religion, and even culture. With these many definitions and understanding of love, it is widely challenged from personal opinion and scholarly research. The common definition for love is the emotional attraction one has toward another person.
The essay was successful in providing extended definitions of love from giving universal love to family members; by according love to God, as the Supreme Being – the giver of all; and by giving selfless and self-sacrificing love to the needy and the oppressed. Three different kinds of love express a strong positive emotion and burning passion.
Love is something that is incredibly difficult to define. Every individual probably has their own, slightly different definition of love that fits them personally but may not apply to everyone else. Generally, however, I believe all of those definitions would treat love as an emotional rather than a reasonable response.
