There are several stunts schools that have been developed to leach students the secrets of stunting just as the learners may expect. Some provide online street bike stunt where students learn stunting skills from online instructors. This strategy has helped those interested to have an opportunity to learn from their homes and without necessarily having to travel a distance of very many miles away from home. Street bike stunting in the streets of California is one thing that brings a lot of young people to craze and it has helped to develop friendship and amity among the youths. I set out to find out how bike stunting had been incorporated in the society as a culture. Many youths during their early life experiences, tend to incline to a certain group usually informally, this is because of the same age, or live same street e.t.c. A friend of mine by the name Jonathon says “these stunts give us an opportunity to socialize and discover full potential in a person”. Affinity groups may develop formally as a result of being included in the same school team, or same class (Glaser 1999, 21). “How did you guys meet?” I asked him. “Actually we were not strangers we grew up in the same neighborhood” Jonathon explained. “How do you identify yourselves?” I asked “The name of the group is Stunters, Street Battlers” we came up with the name to build in ourselves a psyche and motivation to achieve greater heights. Group Experience The group works to entertain people as well as build on their skill and to earn experience of what they do best. I think the stunts pool together youths who are ambitious to develop their talents and the stunts are occasionally graced with prizes and cash for the best stunts. People usually give money to support the events for the love of the sport and this is wholly a non profit making group, any fees charged are basically intended to support some of the group operations that include paying for added insurance or to meet the costs of hiring paramedics to attend to the Stunters (Glaser 1999, 23). Being a group of consent, I discovered that the group does a lot to comply with the government’s regulation of the stunting activities in California State. I inquired from my friend how I could meet the other members of the group and he organized a meeting. I first encountered the Stunters street Battlers in San Jose just around East Ridge Mall, by Starbucks and In and Out at capital expressway in south San Jose. The group usually meets on Fridays and Saturday Nights. “Hi guys? This is my friend and he’s on a research about street Stunters please comply with him” Jonathon said. Some guys appeared uneasy but Jonathon assured them I was a genuine researcher and friend. I really find street bike stunts very fascinating and a very awesome sport. I decided to take a shot at it off course with instructions from the teacher. The sports enthusiastic Stunters bring so much excitement to the watching crowd due to the adventure in it. The group is very interesting to work with since they are a very understanding group of young people and since then I have managed to make friends with many of them. “Are there other groups like this in the State?” one of the Stunters explained “This group is from the San Jose chapter, there are chapters around the Country and we have a very good relationship with other chapters from Los Angeles and Sacramento”. Being very sociable, the group stands a chance of achieving greater heights in this field. In such research there are several obstacles that an anthropologist is likely to face in studying affinity groups and especially stunting activities. Some of the stunts in their performances are very dangerous and the participants might get injured from the crashes they do during stunting sessions (Glaser 1999, 26). Furthermore, stunting is an illegal in the streets of California. I asked “how do you go about it if it’s illegal?” “We usually perform at the shopping centers where the cops do not come around frequently” one of the Stunters answered. The other serious concern is the noise and emission pollution, manufacturers regulate the noise to be made by the motorcycles while at the same time some fake bikes may enter the market and the noise made is disturbing plus alloy of gas emissions. Community around want the Stunters street Battlers should regulate the pollution caused to the environment. Ethical aspects that have affected the Stunters performance is the public opinion and the human rights activists. “What does the community around think?” I inquired, “Many of them view these activities as very hazardous and a danger to the participants as well as to the general public” Jonathon answered. “We have a passion for the sport that we cannot just do away with it” another Stunter added “we meet and enter competitions to represent San Jose chapter”.
