Self Awareness Assignment Step one I will improve my self esteem by dressing well in public for the next two years before completing my education. This is because of the worth I attach to dressing. I will ensure that I spend twice as much as I did before, in ensuring that I achieve my prime goal of adding value to my self esteem after every three months. This is one of the opportunities applicable to my scenario despite the fact that there are more chances that can be utilised. Other opportunities include; knowing that popular personnel have high esteem; what can simply be described as association with the well liked. Dressing well is associated with the higher self esteem. This will be achieved within a timeline of two years. For this goal to be achieved, my savings will be for buying new arrivals in fashion. The savings will also be a step towards counteracting the obstacle of lacking money. Being unable to buy expensive items is not only a challenge to students, but also to very segment of the population. This will be useful in preventing the person for relapse; adopting the previous dressing patterns. A dressing course would assist in understanding factors in the environment that make people acquire the particular dressing behaviour. With knowledge of such factors, using dressing to enhance self esteem will be unavoidable. In addition, I will do research to find out the requirements for one to consider to be dressing well. The efforts it required will also be analysed critically. With such information one would assemble all the resources before the actual work begins. Maintaining records of the progress for every three months will be handy in the entire process. In addition, putting all the resources together as mentioned earlier is also important. Finally, adhering to the schedule of the planned activities is equally important. The major obstacle would be reverting to the previous behaviour. This challenge would be overcome by consulting those who had gone through the entire procedure of behaviour change and how they handled the challenges they faced. Another challenge will be doing other duties besides the ones I already have. Student life is characterised by a lot of tasks. The other tasks that can compromise achievement of these objectives include reading and doing school assignments. Step two Research conducted among college students in a university in Nigeria found out that people bought expensive clothes to improve their self esteem. Those who bought expensive clothes agreed that they did so to improve on their self esteem among their friends within the college. Besides, improving myself esteem, expensive clothes offer more advantages. One example is that expensive clothes are fashionable than those that are cheap. In addition, they are very dryable and hence last for a longer duration than the cheap ones (Karnack, 35). There are other approaches I will use to ensure that my self esteem improves besides buying expensive clothes. These approaches will be used to supplement the expensive clothes that have been bought. The first will be enhancing proper hygiene; it will be a way of enriching my public appearance. In particular, my hair will be kept short and smart. Along with the clean and expensive clothes, this will greatly improve how I am perceived in public. Good hygiene together with wearing expensive clothes can only be recognized when someone identifies a posture that can be regarded as unique. These attributes put together will be crucial in enhancing me esteem (Koop, 45). They seem quite basic but are essential for developing self esteem. Studies have also found out that people who are untidy in most instances have lower self esteem among themselves. Smartness thus brings out the personality in a person. Abraham Maslow’s hierarchy of needs can best explain this process. Maslow’s suggested that people realize the most important needs before they proceed to the next level of needs (Schaller, 10). In this case the interviewee had a lot of needs which he satisfied gradually as he proceeded with lives. In Abraham Maslow’s, there are the physiological needs, which are the most important. Secondly, the security needs which comprise issues like employment, the family as well as the health (Kodd, 2). After this the next level of needs include the belonging needs like the family. The last two needs according to Maslow’s are the esteem needs and self actualization respectively. There is transcendence which determines the path which human motivation goes through. For self esteem to be achieved, the basic needs are first met. The other needs follow according to the order mentioned above. Before other needs are met, no one can move up the ladder. This forms a basis by which humans meet their needs Step three My questionnaire for assessing the level of self esteem will be filled at the end of the day after the end of all classes (Diner, 32). The level of self esteem will be assessed by looking at the scores when I am well dressed with expensive clothes versus when I have moderately cheap clothes. I will complete the questionnaire each day till the day when am smart and a higher self esteem are recorded. When any higher improvement will be noted, factors that constituted to the great score will be considered be used to enhance other improvements of self esteem. Step four The personalized development plan may as well not work because of other reasons. For example if am always smart and the attempts to step up my smartness do not result into a difference that is noticeable can make the plan of action not to work. This is because any attempts to improve my appearance will have an insignificant impact on public who are the judges. Such factors can be controlled by using people who do not know me well, but those who will be competent to identify any form of smartness. This will ultimately lead to an improvement of my self esteem (Ben, 68). Step five Figure1: self esteem in a familiar and unfamiliar group. From the figure, it is evident that self esteem improved from when I moved from a familiar group to the unfamiliar group. This is because the unfamiliar group were not used to my smartness and hence regarded it with the honor it deserved. The people I was familiar to did not notice a significant difference in my smartness. From this results, the results of any exercise should be derived from a reliable sample .This will prevent biasness that is usually in some instances. Biased results are ethically unaccepted biased contributing to false results. Conclusively, many aspects contribute to success of the objectives that one sets in life. Among the things that one needs to put in place is strong commitment. This should be practised throughout the entire process. Commitment helps in tackling the challenges that one would face in life. Without commitment, the challenges can make one to totally fail. Another important thing that one should do is to make a schedule of all the activities that needs to be undertaken. This will include the sub goals that should be attained after a specific timeline. A work plane with a clear set of objectives helps in assessing the progress at every stage of the entire process. With a well defined work plan, adjustments can be made in the entire process until the desired goal is realised. SMART objectives are crucial as they are attainable, time bound, specific besides being measurable. This makes them easy to be easily achieved. Trainings are very important as they equip persons with more knowledge as far attaining their objectives in life is concerned. During trainings, people acquire more skills that can be applied to improve the chances of attaining the SMART objectives. Works Cited Ben. How to develop self esteem. Web. March 29 2013.
