Extract of sample "Human Feelings"

They would greet me every now and then. One of them, Matthew, would even put me on his bed when he watches the television. I get the chance to watch these programs and soon, fall asleep. Then, my best friend would call and I knew that it was lunch time for me. After lunch, she would sit in front of a gadget similar to the television except that her hands are always moving. She would sit there for long period of time. Sometimes, I see her smile; sometimes she looks serious and reflective; and still, recently, I see her cry. I know she is aware that I am just there by her feet and waiting. If only she would carry me, I would have wanted to kiss her by licking her cheeks. I would like to say to her that everything would be okay. And more importantly, I would like to express that even if all the people in the world would leave her alone or make her lonely, I would never ever leave her. I would always be here by her side. I love you, best friend. Read More

The expression of human feelings

...? Argument Analysis The expression of human feelings is not always permittable in the context of the modern society. This phenomenon is clearer in the case of children who are usually enforced to hide their anger aligning their behaviour with the society’s claim for cooperation and compromise. The specific problem is analyzed in the article of Gerard Jones’s “Violent Media is Good for Kids”, where the following fact is highlighted: children are likely to express their anger through comics and computer games, which promote violence. However, it is explained by Jones that in the above case, violence does not have its common form and effects; it is rather a tool for expressing the natural aggression, which cannot be eliminated. Without...

Eliciting and Clarifying Feelings

It is easy in most situations to create stereotypes that would guide one through certain social situations. Applied in most cases, however, this would create problems and poses the threat of the fallacy of accident (Beaumont, 2010). The creation of mental prototypes is, thus, something that is unknowingly done by many and yet may be useful in situations where they are markers of socially violent behavior. Racial profiling is one of the effects of the creation of mental prototypes and is particularly easy since it depends on the physical attributes of a person. Such errors can be reduced by allowing room for individual differences within generalizations. Works Cited Ferguson, T.J. (2004). Perceiving Groups (Prejudice, Stereotyping...

Ugly Feelings

... Ugly Feelings Introduction This essay picks on the Sianne Ngai’s “Ugly Feelings” and “Out with the Old Anxiety” written by Bill Hayes. Lens A is used to see through Lens B where Lens A will be used as a framework from which B will be understood. Lens A- “Ugly Feelings” by Sianne Ngai Anxiety is a form of “expectant emotions” that tend to aim less at a particular object of their choice than at the general configuration of the world (Ngai 210). Rotator Cuff Repair: Surgery Feelings and Actions

My curiosity and the questions I raised led me to find more about the situation that the man brought to the hospital. Indeed I was aware that rotator cuff tear was not a very uncommon issue in adults as “In 2008, close to 2 million people in the United States went to their doctors because of a rotator cuff problem” (Ortho info, 2011). My research, however, made me discover that the situation experienced by the man was quite out of place as he had recently undergone surgery for the same problem. Rotator cuff tear is associated with so much pain because when the rotator cuff tendons are injured or damaged, the bursa in the shoulder area can also become inflamed and painful (Ortho Info, 2011). Though two major forms of te...

Feelings about seeing great drawings

...Museum Experience After entering into the exhibition hall I had a number of feelings. My immediate feeling was that the paintings and the surrounding people were very clinical. In this way I felt like I was in a doctor’s office with the people diagnosing the drawings. As I walked around the museum, however, I increasingly became more involved in the specific exhibitions. The first drawing I looked at was called Saber Dance. The artist was Gene Davis. While this work did not incorporate any colors it had a very lively feel. Notably the artist used a style that seemed to be a hybrid of cubism and abstract expressionism. Viewing this work made me feel a conflicting sense of excitement, but also a foreboding sense of intellectual curiosity...

Symbolic Expression of Feelings in Videos

... videos also impart human destruction or death. With violence around them and the feeling of taking revenge, the people in the two videos are aiming for human destruction or death. However, they are different in their presentation of the theme. In Eminem’s video, destruction is seen as the people and the house burn. In Adele’s, there is the destruction of material things also as symbolized by the broken cups and saucers. However, there is no destruction of human body as seen in the earlier video. Thus, Adele’s music video is a little lighter than the Eminem video. Nevertheless, both of them are violent and destructive. The themes of violence, revenge, and destruction at the end serve as reasons why children should not see the music video...
