Technology and Culture In the current century it can be witnessed that technology has taken over all the realms of the society. Computers, automobiles, internet, machines and mobile phones are all part of the technological advancements. Technology has had a deep impact on the cultural values in the society. Technology is related to the culture in different ways. Above all technology has had a huge impact on the lifestyle of individuals who previously were not used to the new stuff. An example of the third world countries can be taken here where the culture of carriages was prevalent.

However after the introduction of automobiles it can be seen that even the third world countries of Pakistan and Bangladesh have started using them. People nowadays prefer travelling in automobiles than travelling in these carriages. Computers and internet similarly have had a huge impact on the cultural values of people. Previously people believed in interacting with each other through different means but never was it known that these people would interact through the digital world soon. After the introduction of computers, internet has evolved as a massive force controlling a group of the society.

People interact through internet so easily that many prefer using it as a medium for interacting other than anything. Previously the culture of meeting in real was common for people however as times have changed it can be seen that the culture has also changed. With the evolvement of internet social networking websites have been given a way to change the culture previously prevalent. Facebook, MySpace and Twitter are some examples of these networking sites which allow people to interact through the digital world.

People usually prefer sitting at their homes and interacting with their friends and family members through these networking sites. It is here that a conflict arises between the new culture and the old culture. Technology has totally changed the perceptions of many people as these day people prefer using the digital world to interact with everyone. Social software consist of a large number of databases which help the users to interact with each other, share data in the form of pictures and media, learn new stuff and entertain themselves with games and many different tools.

Previously games and entertainment was only associated with going out and playing physical games. However with the advent of technology this culture of going out and playing games has been completely changed. People have completely changed their routine with the introduction of this technology and this is adversely affecting many people. However this technology is also useful to many because of the advantages that it has brought with it. Nowadays in the modern world the rise of different communication setups can be witnessed.

Many things can be included in these communication setups such as Msn Messenger, Yahoo Messenger, cellular technology, email options and other similar services. These messengers allow people to contact through the digital world within seconds and this was previously not possible. Culture and technology are deeply related and somehow technology is changing the roots of culture previously laid by our ancestors. If viewed from one perspective this change is beneficial whereas from the other view the roots of the original culture are being lost and hence it is disadvantageous.
