Running Head: Sustainability & Organizations Sustainability & Organizations [Institute’s Sustainability & Organizations Sustainability is the capacity to endure. In nonprofessional terms, the term ‘sustainability’ refers to how any living things such as humans or even organisms remain productive and maintain their level of performance over a period. People working in organizations too are affected by various changes and factors taking place in the environment and surrounding, and this in turns affects organizations and their performance in the organizations they are serving.
Thus, sustainability change affects organizations in a vast number of ways (Blackburn, 2007). Firstly, the level of inflation in the country affects production of many goods and the prices of goods as well. With a change in sustainability of prices of raw materials etc, prices of final goods produced by the organization are also affected. Moreover, the infrastructure of the country effects how the organization operates. Changes in the sustainability of unemployment levels, also, greatly affect organizations as higher levels of unemployment means more workers would be available to the work in the organization, which might be willing to work at lower pay levels also in order to earn some money.
Additionally, a change in the sustainability of the climate has its own affects on organizations (Blackburn, 2007). Laborers might not be very enthusiastic towards working long hours during the summer and thus, this will have an effect on the organizations level of production and output, along with its operations. On the other hand, during winters, labor might be available in abundance and thus this will surely affect organizations since people will be willing to work longer hours at lower costs, possibly.
By reading the information above, one can surely reach the conclusion that sustainability in an organization and its people is extremely important and a slight change in the sustainability of factors in the environment and surroundings (Pearson, 2010) can have a major impact on various organizations and their performance.
