Benjamin Freedman’s version of history was completely out of synch with history as we all have known it. In his version, he squarely puts the blame on Zionist Jews for the US going into World War I, and for the German violence against the Jews before and during World War II. He even predicted an impending World War III in the 1960s because of the Jews.
It is very difficult to believe that it was the Zionist Jews who maneuvered the US government into joining World War I. Was it not because of the historically close relationship between Great Britain and the US, the naked aggression and atrocities done by the Germans that instigated our leaders to join the war?
He was consistent with conventional history when he said that after the US joined the war, Germany was defeated. But what conventional history did not say, which he said was that the Germans blamed Zionist Jews for the entry of the US, thus their defeat (Freedman, par.24). This he said was the root of German discrimination against Jews which was indeed justified. If what he said was true, was conventional history then wrong in saying that the Germans at that time were envious of the economic success of Jews? Was it wrong in saying that the Germans were blaming their difficulties on the Jews because the Jews were in control of the media and a lot of the industries then? As an aside, Freedman also said that “Jews happened to be maybe 98 percent of the Communists in Europe at that time” (Freedman, par. 26).” Unbelievable!
To fight back, the Jews declared war on Germany (Daily Express, p.1). It called on Jews all over the world to boycott all products made in Germany. Germany depended a lot on its exports. By declaring economic and financial war, its aim was to hurt Germany economically, starve its people, and compel Germany “to end its campaign of violence” against Jews (Daily Express, par. 7).
For Freedman, however, at that point in time, violence against Jews in Germany did not exist (Freedman, par.39). Yet from the Daily Express 1933 article, it can be gleaned that the violence against the Jews was the reason why they declared economic war against Germany. But for Freedman, this economic war was the cause for the government intensifying discrimination but amazingly, still without violence. According to him, it was only in 1938 that “the Germans really started to get rough with the Jews” after a young Jew shot a German official (Freedman, par. 42).
To conclude, it is apparent that Mr. Freedman got his history all wrong. His own version of history and current worldview is very much colored by his anti-Semitic bias. One may even lump him together with other conspiracy theorists whose fertile imagination can be equated with the likes of those who believe the 9/11 disaster was instigated by the US government-military-industrial complex so the US can once again go to war!
