Having watched documentaries about Holocaust, I find it particularly absurd to hear for the first time that Germany was being attacked ( symbolically) by the Jews. First, rich American Jews conspired to make Jews leave Germany so they can return to their promised land. At first, this move seems to be an outcome of a religious struggle that started way back in biblical times. But as you read the article and some commentaries about the whole event, it was an insidious event that had political intentions. Even the Jews in Germany were not even bothered by the Germans which comes as a surprise. So what led Germany to the brink of despair that made it round up Jews? The answer would all be found in the transcripts of Freedman’s speech. Indeed, there was no other recourse but to read the second article to know the truth.
If Judea’s declaration of war was a surprise, Benjamin Freedman’s speech was really a revelation. I believe that all history subjects should require these two important documents to get the other side of the story. Numerous clarifications have been made as to what role the Jews assumed during WWI and WWII. But such revelations were not that shocking because history tells us of conspiracies in many parts of the world. Government versus governments, race versus another culture, anything is possible for political propaganda and economic profit. What was it then that I discovered valuable?
I learned that like any normal person, Germans were not that aggressive at all to conquer the world. They were even harmless at that time when Jews decided to boycott their goods. Germany was undergoing an economic crisis that crippled its industry. Not buying their goods would mean killing the children that depend on their fathers for food. However, hate can make people blind as some nations (according to Freedman) conspired to make life harder for Germany. Documents presented in Freedman's articles indicated that even the notorious Goebbles did not have anything to do with maltreating Jews. Hitler too was deemed in Freedman’s speech as an ordinary chancellor who did not seek to imperialize half of Europe. Of course, we all know that Germany invaded its neighboring countries like Austria because it was not allowed to pass. Nevertheless, the reading gives us an insight that Germany was mending its own problems so it did not have time to think of world domination.
In conclusion, the two articles are closely associated with one another. The first one describes the events behind the war; the second one tells us the inside story.
