Possibility Article In year 1996, Resident Evil made its debut as a video game for Sony Playstation. Later, after it gained popularity in the Metro the plot of Resident Evil has been formally introduced as a licensed material for films, comic books, and novels. In 2002, the horror film written and directed by Paul W.S. Anderson made a huge success in the big screen which further opened avenues for more successful sequels of the movie. The film progressed following the life of Alice, an amnesiac heroine, of whom one day unknowingly woke up in the band of a secret underground facility of the Umbrella Corporation.
The Corp vigorously attempts to contain the outbreak of the T-virus. The T-virus is “the only known Umbrella-made virus that possesses the ability to infect almost all known animal and plant species. The extreme degeneration of intelligence is also dependant on species, as Eliminators are known to possess much more intelligence than zombies and are capable of understanding orders. In humans, t-virus infection is only 90% effective, with the remaining 10% of the population having a natural immunity to the virus, even when directly bitten by a Zombie.
As well as this, the rate of the infection is unique to each person, and can be influenced by several factors which may speed up or slow down infection” (Project Umbrella, n.d.). Does the T-virus have possibilities of existence? The film shows that people can turn into parasite victims that are mindless and zombie-like slaves. Thus, there is what you call Toxoplasmosa Gondii parasite that seems to give the same effect that can lead to such terrifying holocaust. “Human and rat brains share the same basic anatomy and neurotransmitterrs, which is why rats are common in human drug expirements.
The possibility of viral mutation brings the possibility that the virus could adapt to the human anatomy and have us behave in the same way as the rats, bringing a loss of self preservation and willpower” (Drew Parks, 2008). Deliberately, such parasite extends great posibility of creating zombie-like human slaves. It is widely known that whenever a drug or a study is conducted in a rat, the rat acts wildy and out of control due to the adverse negative effects of it. Thus, this Toxoplasmosa Gondii parasite is clearly showing posibilties of the T-Virus in the film Resident Evil.
