The novel ‘Frankenstein’ as well as the film captivates a volley of characters within the plot. The character which is most fascinating and appealing is evidently ‘The Creature’ played by Robert De Niro as it is presented as the product of an experiment with a corpse and electricity. The kind of makeup which was put on Niro was definitely quite bizarre and heavy in order to make him awful. The way Robert De Niro carried the makeup throughout the film, makes his acting commendable. The attire and the makeup became a coherent part of his personality throughout the film. The way Robert De Niro displayed the bestial qualities within the creature; almost compelled the audience to think that he is a real corpse electrified to life incarnated. Also at times, the emotions displayed by the awful creature are not easy job to exhibit but an expert actor like Robert De Niro could make it possible. For an average or general actor, it is not an easy task to portray emotions with the attire and makeup of a beast. But a close introspection to the film would launch the viewer into the contention that each line of facial expression, the moments of happiness and sadness both are clearly distinct behind the heavy makeup that Robert De Niro had put up. The remarkable scene by Robert De Niro is one when the creature thinks of Elizabeth as his own bride and tries to captivate her and indulges in battle with his own creator. The way role of the creature played by Robert De Niro is outstanding in many ways but the superb blend of humane and inhuman qualities through an oscillation within the context of a single personality is the most marvelous facet of Niro’s acting. Moreover, his masculine appearance, elegance of movement, and body language are very manly which makes him immortal in the role of the creature.
