After the earthquake that hit Japan last March 11 followed by a tidal wave, Japan’s higher demand for oil coupled with the shaky political situation in the Middle East, increase the risk of oil price increase. This article can be associated with the law of supply and demand. In the law of demand, increase in demand and steadiness in supply leads to higher price; while decrease in demand and steadiness of supply leads to lower price.
In the law of supply, increase in supply and steadiness in demand leads to lower price; while decrease in supply and steadiness in demand leads to lower price. Since the demand for oil is high and the supply is threatening to decrease, there are big chances of oil price increases in the following weeks or months. Once enacted, it will erase their ability to collectively bargain over nearly all issues other than minimal salary increases. The enactment is being held off for a few days due to the negative uproar it caused among the unions and its members. This article therefore is helpful is portraying the role of the unions regarding labor and employment. Labor unions, like in this article, do collective bargains over wages and benefits, and represent the members of the unions in case there is a threat in the laborers status.

Even in a country who is a strong supporter of human rights and equality, one cannot dispute that religion, coupled with the cultural beliefs that go with it, can be a dividing factor in an otherwise solid society. It says in the article that Muslim individuals fear that the still ongoing hearings regarding the World Trade Center attack will affect them one way or another.
Throughout the article, interviewed Muslims expressed their fear and anxiety over the misunderstanding of the dominant society on their religion and culture, as it could cause violence against the minority group.
