Essay A team includes a group of people who work together in order to achieve a particular goal or task and they are accountable for the outcome of the task. The interdependence among the team members increases both the interpersonal relationship among them as well as the productivity of the work. Work carried out by a group of people reflects the strength of the human resource of the company and the positive and negative outcomes of the result are equally shared among the members. The results garnered from a team effort is always more superior than that from an individual.

A better knowledge and development of skills of every individual is improved by their participation. The welfare of the team and the set goal gains a upper hand than the personal development and motives of an individual within the team (Growing a team, 2011). In a healthcare setting the members of a team work together to provide care for patients. For instance a physician and physiotherapist may work together to provide care for a patient (Clements, Dault & Alicia, n.d). In many cases the team leader can include several members within the team which can result in an unbalance and incase the team includes only people with a particular expertise only a specific area is focused and developed while gaps are left in the other areas.

Many individuals within a team may have a feeling that their talents are underutilized within the team. In case the leader is unable to motivate the members, the work output often is not satisfactory and is left incomplete. In case of such differences, all the team members do not get their fill which is also reflected in the final result (Growing a team, 2011). In healthcare team work constitutes an important aspect for providing patient care. The collaborative efforts of both the physician and other paramedics would help to provide optimum care and treatment for the patients as the specific skills of everyone in the team results in improved outcomes for the patient.

Such a team work would help in reducing medical errors and quality and safe healthcare can be afforded to the patient. The diagnosis of the health condition as well as the treatment modality can be better determined through team work. This would also enable better communication between the patient and all the healthcare providers which would eventually result in patient satisfaction (Clements, Dault & Alicia, n.d). While working as a team every individual member should be committed to the goal or end result of the work.

The participation of each individual should be productive and they should contribute data and knowledge which is relevant to the team work. They must involve themselves in the decision making and should also contribute to arriving at a favorable consensus. In addition, they should also work hard to make the decision workable. Team members should also develop an open, honest and effective communication amongst them and thereby develop a sense of tryst and belonging within the team. They should also learn to be creative and should have the willingness to task risks if required.

It is also vital for team members to be flexible and adapt to the changing working conditions. They should also engage in self-evaluation and develop their leadership abilities through constant learning and assisting the team towards achieving the end result (Growing a team, 2011). In a healthcare environment inter-personal relationship and team work is extremely vital as they are concerned with providing quality care for the patients. It is necessary that managers of the health system, policy makers as well as clinicians frame suitable policies and guidelines in order to implement the appropriate working conditions and thereby also meet the expectations of the patients.

In addition, healthcare professionals who are working in a team should also monitor the activities of other teammates and should also have the ability to manage inter-personal conflicts that may arise during decision making. Healthy team work would definitely boost the morale of the staff and at the same time provide good care for the patients (Clements, Dault & Alicia, n.d). References 1. Growing a team. (2011).
