Staffing Plan for an Engineering Organization
To begin with, I have to set down our goals and objectives after determining the kind of business that our organization will be in. The next step is to figure out and draw a strategy for how the organization is going to achieve those particular goals and objectives. In addition, I have to decide concerning the specific kind of jobs that are to be done and the specific people who are to be responsible for rendering their duties as they do the jobs.
Finally, as a Human Resource staff, I have to ensure that each member of the staff’s knowledge, skills, and talents have been matched to the jobs in question (Pandey 7). Ensuring that skilled employees can enable the organization to meet its goals is one of the most crucial aspects. This can be ensured by ensuring that the supply and demand that match people’s components have been matched.

Am supposed to come up with a profile for the members of staff in the organization. The profile entails an internal analysis that specifies workers and their respective skills. Apart from this, I will also need to develop an inventory report for human resources. The aspects to be included in the inventory report are aspects of some information regarding employees like their names, level of education, present pay, and languages they use among others. Drafting this profile will be of great significance to the organization since it will help to establish the kind of skills that are available for the organization. Besides, the information will assist the human resource department with guidelines for selecting employees to know those who are to be trained, transferred, or promoted.

Five aspects are really what the organization ought to have. They include mission, objectives, goals, strategies, and people. Although I do not presently work with any organization and may not have all the details regarding how other organizations operate, I have had to create strategies for recruiting employees based on both what is recorded in scholarly materials and the lecture notes. Am familiar with a given engineering organization whose staffing plan should be prepared. The functional areas in the engineering firm include the accounting and finance, operations, design management, Information technology, and Human Resources sections.

The firm plans to recruit three employees in the accounting and Finance section, two members of staff in the operations, one in the design management, four in the information technology, and two in the human resource department. Thus a total of twelve applicants are to be absorbed by the firm. One of the key plans that the company has is designing bridges in Portland. The project is expected to be done within the next two years.

There is, therefore, a need to recruit more staff to help the firm accomplish this plan within the designated time. The bridge is to be designed along the Willamette River with the objective of not only easing traffic congestion but also facilitating commuting. The Congress government is expected to meet our budgetary allocation for the project which is to cost well about 500, 000 dollars.

The Recruiting Exercise
To ensure that the recruiting process is effective, there ought to be a pool of applicants that are diverse (Kasper 43). The recruiting team should also be diverse. Moreover, the recruitment is supposed to provide sufficient relevant information about the qualifications. Such information will ensure that applicants who are not eligible are selected for the job candidacy. Among the factors that affect the staffing strategy of an organization is its size. For instance, large organizations are supposed to recruit regularly.

Additionally, the recruiting exercise should be done from a diverse group of applicants. Large organizations should have regular recruitment. Read More
