Intake involved the initial meeting with the case-patients and the assessment summaries were taken. Chronic care involved assessing and taking care of the incarcerated clients with extreme needs. On the other hand, a sick call is the medical attendance list for the incarcerated adults which contained the medical records that nurses use to assess their progress. Lastly, the nurses assessed the mental health of each patient in the incarceration. Role of Registered Nurses in the Event Since the event involved research on the needs of incarcerated adults and their major area of change, the role of a registered nurse is to offer correctional services to the clients.

Such services for nurses include assessing the individual's health well-being including physical, social, and mental wellbeing. The nurse also teaches the incarcerated adults sufficient coping skills that can help them develop positive changes as per societal expectations. More so, the nurse pays medical attention to the clients to confirm if they need special checkups that can improve their situations. Lastly, the registered nurse acts as a counselor to the incarcerated adults to help them go through the transitional stages successfully.

  The Positive Thing About the Experience The experience involved direct engagement in the research process by breaking the adults into different groups depending on their age, origin, and mental status (Dobmeier, 2017). As such, the experience enhanced direct engagement in data collection, analysis, and presentation. It also enabled me to identify the major causes of incarceration and the different needs and wishes of those who have been incarcerated. On top of that, the event acted as a source of hope for the victims of confinement as felt wanted and being heard.

According to me, the research helped the victims to think about their lives so that they can learn how to cope with the challenges to enhance a good life in the future. The Concerns I can identify about the Experience Having attended the research event, I witnessed several concerns which I think should be examined. Firstly, young adults seem to have problems with abandoning an addictive habit such as substance use. Therefore, they should be taken through serious rehabilitation programs to make them become responsible adults.

Besides, I realized that family problems can result in mental problems since those adults who had mental problems were concerned about their families more than anything else. Among the older adults, the major issue of discussion was about structural support from the government by making good policies and ensuring criminal justice. The issue that was raised by every group of individuals was the family issue, depicting how everyone viewed their families. How the Experience will enhance my Knowledge Base As noted earlier, the experience was based on applied research methods to assess the different needs of incarcerated adults.

My direct involvement in the event will enhance and build my knowledge in research especially in the qualitative research part which was applied in this experience. Apart from that, my knowledge about correctional nurses will expand since I got the chance to associate with correctional nurses at the event. Finally, the experience will help me to understand how to help others cope with changes in life and make good transitions.
