GROUP DYNAMICS Group work is a process of working collaboratively with an aim to achieve some goals in life. Group workis always crucial in every part in life, and is always necessary for people working together to work well collectively by trying their level best in various circumstances. In any group work, there is a need for every individual to cooperate by adequately using various skills and providing constructive feedbacks with regardless to any personal conflict with any member of the group My group was made up of people who could easily relate with the environment by maintaining peace and unity among ourselves (Belbin 2012). There was a good communication with combined efforts and universal solidarity with an aim of meeting their respective objectives in a nursing environment. The group had an aim and how to achieve these aims was the next step. The team members should work in accordance to the high level inter-reliance, sharing of leadership roles, accountability, objectives and reward to group members. According to Beldin (2012), various theories have been used to improve group work performances. Beldin suggested that group is not a bunch of people with job titles but it is a collection of people with each having duties that are understandable by all other individuals (Norma2010 np). Different members in our group had should build a productive working relationship that helps in developing high performing team, raise self-awareness and personal effectiveness that can build mutual trust and understanding every individual within the group. The group was made up of members who have a target to meet and we managed to draft for possible ways in which the target can be made with no difficulty. Many physicians have joined forces to compete for the modern healthcare market. John’s model of reflection Johns model of reflection (1994) enable our group to get access to various objectives since it enabled us to develop creative thinking by learning through life experiences. Description We were able to handle various issues related to health matters with ease through the use of classwork knowledge. The classwork knowledge also enabled us to meet our target by applying what learnt to class to life experiences during the group work (Johns 1994). My team managed to pay attention of cholera breakout to the members of the community and we managed to provide teachings to the public some of the ways to control the outbreak. Reflection My group was trying to achieve strength on how to handle some of the serious problems affecting the society. The increase in loss of life to the public made me to participate actively in my group in order to help the remaining citizens (Johns 1994). My active participation and my fellow group members made positive results and managed to get appraisal from the other groups and the entire community affected. We felt exited while helping and saving life of various people. Most of the patients were much happy on how we were handling them and some could appreciate our good work. Influencing factors Improvement in life status to the patients we were handling made our group members to develop internal reinforcement that made me to work more hard. However, the good corporation from our leaders had great influence on our group decision making. Class knowledge and group objectives made great influence in our action. Our group also had the choice of helping other group members to achieve their objectives as we. However, after joining other groups to achieve their objectives, due to our competitive and commitment in team work, other members left us their respective duties giving us hard time to solve two issues at a moment. Learning The experiences I went through made me to be familiar with challenges associated to health matters. This could make me to strong enough and independent in handling some of the related matters to those we experienced during the group work project. Now able to handle health related issues with progress to community. Team Outline Our nursing outline was designed to improve the level of performance of the group by raising moral values and creating motivation among the nurses. Moreover, this is done to ensure high quality services and achieve positive results to the nursing team (Norma 2010). The nursing team successfully managed cohesive, happy and high productive team that consistently helps to achieve the required goals of the group. The nursing team ensured well designed strategies for leading the team. The strategies should involve brainstorming and managing practically the team by using effective techniques that are productive to the nurses’ goals. The nurse manager and the director were in charge of identifying different types of tactics to lead nurses. Moreover, the nurse manager and nurse director were able to recognize different group improvement levels and behaviors of the nurses and other people in general. The nurses, physicians, doctors, pharmacists, clinical care providers and clinical IT working group ensured we are mastering the techniques provided by the nurse manager and director to produce effective and productive goals. Due to the high demand of health to members of the societies, there is a need for the professionals to quickly adapt (Norma 2010). Our nurse manager and the director developed great team problem solving by creating constructive skills to lead their subjects. On the other hand, care providers who work closely with the ethics committee provided the group with the necessary details about culture that enabled us to learn techniques of solving and facilitate skills that helped patients and their families (Norma 2010). By meeting the cultural beliefs, both the nurses, doctors, physicians, clinical care providers and clinical IT in collaboration with their respective managers and directors to meet the demands of health services to the members of the community. Challenges and strengths of a group Our group experienced various challenges to the members who formed it. The challenges gave us strength by finding possible ways of solving them (Keegan & Baker 2015, p.48). However, the strengths provided internal reinforcement to the group members. Communication: Our group ethics committee was familiar with the language that made it easier for understanding. Medical group members in our team were familiar with the cultures of the various communities they are handling. Our top leaders were able to express themselves in a common language in a respectful way that improved level of corporation and continuity. Deal making: Making progressive deal in a group is not easy. Every person in a group has different thoughts about an issue (Keegan & Baker 2015, p.48). Shared cost: Group work helps one another in sharing expenditures. Group work reduces costs and labor. Working in a group in medical sectors helps the entire community members by getting help from different partners. Principles of group outline Core principles of treatment models of our group of nurses were developed to provide good medical services to the members of the society. Human right commitment as one of the principle ensures that patients are subjected from right violation, abuse and torture (Blumberg, Walsh & Kayal 2013, p.4). In relation to this, my team managed to handle their patients in the required manner. Organizational containment code is done to reduce the frequent exposure of some stories by the clinicians and deliberate interpersonal conflict. Parallelism: Our nurse manager and the coordinator expressed their issues in parallel manner. There is a need of the group members to be parallel with each other in a constructive manner. Coordinator: The nurse manager together with the coordinator ensured that we are effectively coordinating with each other (Braden &Brandenburg 1955). They ensured that we are organized in a manner that everyone within the team is equal to one another to avoid biasness. Subordination: The principles managed to give us guide more especially to the top officials on how to arrange in order the programs. The manager and the director arranged schedules to help us cater well our services to various levels. We managed to ranking system in our group (Crandall & Chen 2015). The ranking system provided various duties to the members elected to have in mind their roles and duties to be done to the society and to their workmates. Every rank must have a specific duty that needs to be carried out successfully. The elected people ensured standard measures in their work (The Principals Role in Putting Standards to Work 2013, p.9). The principals ensured that we are implementing some common core standards to meet the target. Recommendation for action for the principals includes; collaboration with their staff members to establish a vision of medical success. Our principals were ready for various questions such as, how would the disagreements be handled among members? What is the communication process? Who can speak on behalf of the members? Which criteria would be used in measuring success? (The Principals Role in Putting Standards to Work 2013, p.9) Who will be responsible for managing and supervising the group? Which decisions related to the health would both partners handle together? The team principal that I work in involves; the nurse manager, director of nurses, patient, physician, doctor, pharmacist, clinical care providers, staff nurses, ethics committee and clinical IT working teams. Various methods of learning about the public are involved during the group research work (Duggan &Brownson2015, p.288). During the process, various calculations of descriptive statistics and logistic regression for measuring association and LHD characteristics are used. My groups members work have long term observation due to various interactions with the members of the society (Knapp et al. 2014, p.3). The members also try to adapt with various ecological conditions of different areas. Our group work helped every individual to relate their previous learning to the present experiences. However, the member’s involvement reduces cost and burden to the participants by sharing the burden together as a team. According to Belbin (2013), our team role theory should be a familiar concept for the top leaders in an association across the world. The theory tries to give an outline for the job each person should carry in an organization. Role of team members with reference to Belbin Team Role Theory Overall Belbin Roles Description Doing/ Acting Implementer Convert ideas into material working practice. The care providers and the staff nurses pick up the abandoned projects and accomplish them to meet the goals of the team. The implementer members (staff nurse and the care providers) were well organized, discipline and self-oriented. Sharper Steer team discussions towards the goal. The sharper (nurse director) is always after seeing the good result. However, the sharper aim higher by ensuring everyone has contributed in the group. The nurse director who was in charge of us was always motivated, ambitious, energetic and independent. Finisher A person who takes on the finishing touch. According to my group, the doctor is the finisher. The doctors make sure that nothing goes wrong. The doctor boosts the team (Belbin 2013). The doctor verifies the progresses more especially if work is perfect on time. The doctor should be quite, timid and agitated. Moreover, the doctors should have a perfect balance of feelings and anxiety. Thinking/ Problem solving Plant The staff nurses had original ideas and fantasies. They had ability to come up with new ideas and unexpected solutions to the group. The staff nurses per my group were intelligent and are having imaginative power (Belbin 2013). They are independent and always have original ideas. Moreover, the staff nurses should never take things for granted for adequate success for the group Monitor/ Evaluator Thinks carefully and accurately about every issue related to the target of the group. The ethics committee as the monitors may always lack ability to inspire other members of the society. The ethic committee members in my group had ability to find new ideas and develop information from outside to inside. People/ Feelings Coordinator The nurse manager is the coordinator. The nurse manager communicates on what should be done by the group members. However, it is the duty of chairman to lay down rules and frameworks that guides the group. Moreover, the nurse manager is in charge of clarifying matters requiring decision during the team work. Able to communicate clearly. Team worker The group worker is focused in creating a perfect working environment. Physician, pharmacists and the nurse in my group are the group workers. They have high listening skills and listen carefully to various problems. They are flexible by recognizing easily what other people need to perform well. The doctors, physicians and the nurses are always loyal to everyone. Resource / Investigator Good networker by exploring new ideas and possibilities. The clinical IT members in my case are the chief investigators.
