I agree with Christopher Johnson that the diagnosis of acute abdominal pains in a 20-year-old male includes acute gastritis, diverticulitis with perforation, small bowel obstruction, and appendicitis. These are some of the indicators that point out the patient might be having acute abdominal pains. While the diagnosis of chronic abdominal pains in a 20-year-old male includes inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and diverticulitis. I also agree with him that, cholelithiasis, acute upper GI Bleed, perforated peptic ulcer disease, toxic megacolon, and acute gastritis are some of the diagnoses that indicate acute abdominal pain in a 50-year-old. Some of the diagnoses of chronic abdominal pain in a 50- year old include cirrhosis, peptic ulcer disease (PUD) (duodenal), peptic ulcer disease (PUD) (gastric), and diverticulitis (Shahedi, 2015; Buttaro, Trybulski, Bailey, & Sandberg-Cook, 2013).
