Module Personal ment for Doctorate Degree of Nursing My passion for nursing and my awareness of rapid developments in thisfield have informed my decision to pursue a doctorate in Nursing. Being a professional, I understand that nursing has become more dynamic in the past five years than it has ever been. Nursing research has grown tremendously and created new paradigms in theory and practice. Since I am a highly motivated and driven individual, I know that I cannot rest on my laurels as other practitioners continue to experience professional growth in my field.
I consider the DNP to be both an eye-opener and a platform for future growth. A doctorate would put me in good stead when it comes to promotions and professional opportunities outside my area of specialization. However, more importantly, I look forward to improving my analytical, communication, and cognitive-behavioral skills, which are some of the most important professional attributes any nursing graduate should possess. The doctorate will enable me to polish these qualities to the highest possible level.
I consider graduate school to be more than an extra accomplishment to be added to the many achievements I already have. In addition, it is more than a fine polish to my resume. My logic is that graduate school is a devotion that comes with huge responsibilities. A graduate degree in nursing is even more special because nursing practice is a calling; very few are chosen to contribute towards the development of this unique area. Earning a graduate degree has been my ambition for a long time. For the duration I have practiced nursing, I have witnessed a growing demand for research and implementation of improved basic knowledge tool evaluation to understand orientation timelines for nurses providing long-term care.
This is intended to positively impact patient-oriented care in this field. I have also noted that long-term care institutions have over-relied on adaptability and experience to enable assessment of nurses’ knowledge in order to guarantee safe practice. Upon completion of my DNP, I would love to be able to apply the knowledge I have acquired to improve nursing practicing by contributing to the training and support of nursing instructors. This would give me the opportunity to positively influence health care policy and to critique scientific knowledge to uphold quality and better results in long-term care facilities.
Being a family nurse professional, I find joy in caring for the elderly. I have a decade of experience in providing care for geriatrics, including an excellent grasp of the intricacies of geriatric care. This is informed by first-hand knowledge of the working conditions, challenges, and areas of concern involved in geriatric care management. In the future, I would love to take part in medical missions in my home country, the Philippines. Ideas for my Doctoral Applied Project in my planned area of Clinical ExpertiseOne of the principal research areas I would like to explore in my Doctoral Applied Project is the application of Gordon’s functional health patterns and the self-care deficit theory in the improvement of universal geriatric care management.
I have identified some gaps in research in this niche, and I believe that I can conduct thorough investigations to fill some of the gaps. Since it is very promising, I intend to continue exploring this area even after I acquire my doctorate.
