Developing Career through a Doctorate Degree in Education Developing Career through a Doctorate Degree in Education To many people, a degree in education or doctorate in such a field does not appeal enough as a career or line of occupation. However, unlike how people view the teaching career, my perception on education is based on the satisfaction that people get from gaining new knowledge on certain subjects. I have a passionate desire to undertake a course in education and my experience in the field so far leaves me with no alternative option to take as a career. I am a diligent and result oriented person whose focus in to see students excel in their studies to shape their careers. This paper attempts to outline the facts that have motivated me to undertake doctorate in education and also my personality traits in relation to the cause. It will also seek to explain my basis of taking the cause as my future career. My career objectives and plans are based on my personality traits, personal skills and competencies. I am a person who is extremely organized and who values personal management element with high regard. Since I was a child, I have been recognized for my organizational skills and I believe this is one of the major traits that assist when one engages in a career in education. This is one of the traits that will guide and motivate students to have organized lives and focus on building their careers as well. I am also proficient in written and verbal communication skills where I have also come to realize that my oral and written communication skills are impeccable. I have been outstanding in communication skills since I was a child due to the confidence that was developed in me by my parents and teachers. Any person who wants to excel in his career must possess good communication skills and this fact encourages me in my endeavors in education career. In fact, one of my objectives in this field is to nurture students to be excellent in communication skills as they are pillars of success of a person in his or her career life (Chalam, 2011). Besides having excellent communication skills and organizational traits, I feel that I can work well in a busy environment and also can work well under pressure. I have previously been engaged in teaching occupation where I used to teach students on psychology. Further, I have also worked in an organization where I acted in leadership position and demonstrated leadership and organization skills. During the two experiences, I was faced with situations which required tight schedules and extreme working pressure, during the events, I was composed and calm thus realizing that I can work well under pressure. In education field, one is called to work under pressure at times and I believe I am prepared for this especially as I climb up the organizational hierarchy (Wang, 2010). I am also result oriented and proficient in computer application. My excellence records in performance and ambitions in life have been as a result of being result oriented. I believe in setting targets for personal evaluation on growth and development is critical in career development. This is a critical factor in success as it ensures that a person can evaluate his development realize whether he should improve or maintain the performance. A result oriented person is mostly focused in excelling in a certain test during a certain period to allow him to progress to the other stage after thriving in the previous stage. Further, it enhances performance in the area of applications and results are always admirable since one is always focused on the task. I plan to apply this in my future career where I will train students to be result oriented to succeed in their careers. I believe that the above skills and my experiences in different areas of application play a part in my interest in doctorate of education. I am currently pursing my Masters degree in Human Development and Leadership. This course is focused on my future engagement with doctorate in education. I have also undertaken a bachelor degree in Arts where I majored in psychology. Considering the two courses I have undertaken in my undergraduate and postgraduate levels, it is clear that my career is focused on education subjects and especially on psychology and human development areas. I have a substantial interest in psychology issues in human beings because my focus is to assist the candidates on these areas to ensure I fulfill my desire to serve in an education career. I have also undertaken some other courses like strategic management methods, leadership for frontline managers, management skills and business communication. Together with my proficiency in computer applications, I have the right tools to undertake a career on education and more so to undertake a doctorate in education (Gill, 2010). Doctorate degree is regarded as an expertise level of education where one gets to advance knowledge in a certain field to an expert level. Students who have undertaken doctorate courses stand out from the others in any field as they demonstrate high professionalism and expertise in job requirements and application of various skills in such subjects. I want also to demonstrate high expertise and professionalism in my career in education. Studying doctorate decree will create an opportunity to exploit my career to the highest heights since I can rise to high job positions and management positions. I feel that undertaking a course in doctorate of education will shape my career as I can lead and teach students with the required qualifications that can motivate them to also work hard. One of my philosophies in teaching holds that one should set an example to those he leads and should motivate them to achieve their highest ambitions in life (Wang, 2010). Doctorate degree helps to create professional networks that lead to diverse opportunities in careers and other areas of life. When one gets to complete his doctorate studies, he gets a chance to have created many professional networks as possible. The networking process helps someone to gain a lot of knowledge and experience in different areas in addition to what he aims at studying in classes. There are many professionals who are involved in the study and research process and thus they can influence the career of an individual to great heights. These networks play a big role in developing the careers of the doctorate students and they can also generate commendable standards of leadership, management and proficiency in their areas of application (Peterson, 2009). Since my goals and objectives are aligned towards education as a career, I have linked the above traits with my qualifications and I am motivated to take the doctorate course. My career objectives include self-motivation, discipline, hard work, high ambitions and achievements of desirable results. Further, I have aspirations and objectives that are focused on developing and nurturing talents and promoting abilities among different people to inspire them to achieve their objectives in life. In taking a course in doctorate in education, I believe I will supplement my skills, abilities and personal traits to achieve my career goals in teaching where I will be able to nurture students and motivate them to develop their talents and careers. These objectives will help me to inspire many people from different positions since I am certain that I can also achieve other top positions in leadership and management of the institutions that I will be allocated. I aspire to see many people excel in their fields through the help of my knowledge and experience. In conclusion, taking a doctorate course in education will help me to achieve my goals and desires in life. This leads to a considerable interest in taking educational course that will be significant for my career goals and ambitions.
