It should be noted that the profession of nursing requires great motivation. Not everyone is capable of performing their duties. People are either self-motivated or need external motivation in every job/career. Therefore, it is important to ask individuals what is going to be their source of motivation (Carpenito-Moyet, 2006). What are the reasons for choosing this career, and are these reasons extrinsic or extrinsic? It will help clear many things regarding the personality and nature of that individual.

In any profession, a person might come across various issues/incidents/scenarios in which he or she has to act in a vigilant manner (Nursing Careers, 2014). For this reason, every person who thinks of adopting nursing as a career should be prepared so that they can efficiently respond to them. Furthermore, every person has his / her perspective and adopts some specific approach towards life and how he deals with his everyday routine. It is obvious that nurses have a key function of taking care of the patients however it is important to know in what they are looking after them and what strategies they are adopting (Carpenito-Moyet, 2006). Furthermore, it is also important to know their approach as sometimes they might also panic and that can endanger and risk the lives of their patients.

It is understood that nurses are meant to be caring and helping. These individuals are self-driven towards humanity and public care. It is important to know that there is no forceful element behind their decision and that they are happy with their decision. It should be noted that sometimes most individuals are not happy with their careers and are simply doing it for money or because of unemployment. This reason contributed towards the increase in patient care and its overall quality (Carpenito-Moyet, 2006). To figure out whether the individuals are adopting the career as a choice or as an option their other interests must be asked. Therefore, to get an idea regarding this, their second job priority other than nursing should be asked (Nursing Careers, 2014). This will allow the HR team or the recruiters to assess what kind of a person he or she is and what kind of careers they are declined. Read More
