Global Strategic Resource Allocation Introduction In present day context, nations are quite concerned about developing their respective healthcare segment so as to provide effective care to the patients. In relation to this context, the nation i.e. the United Kingdom came forward to spend substantial amounts in advancing its healthcare segment and serving the society. Moreover, the government of the UK has taken various steps to serve the humanity and strives to make deliberate efforts in developing this particular segment. These are mainly through generating greater awareness about this aspect amid the general population (Faculty of Public Health, 2010). With this concern, a discussion will be made regarding a particular global health topic for a selected country i.e. the UK. In this regard, the global health topic, which will be discussed in the following discussion is “The Need for More Community Health Workers.” Social Factors From various studies, it can be apparently observed that there exists a correlation between health and social problems. In the UK, the individuals with higher income can better meet the costs of healthcare services, whereas the poorer people have to suffer. The government of the UK has taken numerous steps to serve people who have low income and cannot afford to invest more in accessing varied healthcare services. It is worth mentioning that the UK government has developed various programs and with the help the Community Health Workers, it desired to create greater awareness in the entire region. The government strongly believed that the utilization of community health workers in a large manner will certainly contribute in providing greater health services to the individuals belonging to the UK and also a strategy to suffice the growing shortages of health workers in the UK. The involvement of the government and active participation of World Health Organization (WHO) has introduced certain programs that range from large scale to community-based initiatives in order to serve the individuals effectively residing in the UK. The absence of such programs and the community health workers have might greatly affect the people and the healthcare system of the UK at large (Appleby, 2011). Ethical Factors The government of the UK is recognized to set and hold the utmost standards of professionalism in the healthcare sector. The nation has come forward to serve the individuals and also to encourage ethical behaviors. It is worth mentioning that with the help of the community health workers, the UK government desires to protect the interests of the people. The government desired to make quite clear that ethical principles that have been violated earlier needs to be cope up. In this regard, one of the crucial aspects i.e. the deliverance of ineffective care to the patients without setting certain standard rules by the doctors or the physicians can be regarded as the ethical principle being violated (Stanford University, n.d.). It is worth mentioning that the cardinal bioethical principles include autonomy, distributive justice and non-maleficence. Considering the principle of autonomy, it can be apparently noted that in earlier times, the patients were not being informed about the disease and the risks associated with their health. This might act as one of the ethical principles, which adhered by the nation in earlier times. On the other hand, distributive justice suggests that every patient require to be equally treated, however, this particular aspects was violated in previous days. Non-maleficence includes that no patient should be harmed and proper care should be given to them. In this regard, the community health workers will help to reduce such violation of principles through setting effective standards healthcare rules along with regulations (American Nurses Association, 2009; American Nurses Association, n.d). Economic Factors Apparently noted, the government of the UK emerged with the idea of investing substantial amount in the healthcare segment in future. This can be owing to the reason that the life span of humans has constantly increased and thus there lays an increased concern of making further improvements in the healthcare system. It is projected that the community health workers will help the UK government to serve the individuals and improve the life of the patients at large through introducing innovative programs and utilizing those efficiently. It is worth mentioning that the government of the UK has invested nearly about 6.8 percent of the GDP on healthcare and desires to serve people with utmost effectiveness in future in terms of raising the investment amount. The investments made in the healthcare segment eventually resulted in enhancing the life of the individuals belonging to the UK and subsequently controlled the mortality rates. To be precise, the involvement of the community health workers will further enhance the performance of the healthcare systems in the UK. In this similar context, The National Health Service (NHS) of the UK has also taken the initiative of developing and most vitally saving the life of the individuals of the region. The government of the UK tends to develop the NHS program or initiative in order to show greater performance and offer patients with better facility. In this similar context, the organizations or the agencies including WHO, UNICEF and the World Bank have taken initiatives to solve health related issues in the UK. The reduced cost and the quality drugs supplied by the pharmaceutical companies have subsequently helped the UK to serve huge figure of individuals (CDC, 2012; Action for Global Health, 2011). Discussion about the Progress Being Made In Addressing the Global Health Issue for the UK The UK government is viewed to be adopting certain effective steps in addressing the global health issue i.e. the need for employing more community workers in order to provide quality as well as effective care to the patients. In order to discuss about the progress being made in addressing the above discussed health issue, it can be affirmed that the UK government has supported an effective framework named “Health is Global.” In this particular framework, the need for employing more community workers has been portrayed with asserting the fact this holds the potentiality to offer quality care to the patients and mitigate diverse health related issues.
