Nursing Effectiveness of Senior Team Member and In-Depth Knowledge of the Subject. As the senior member of the clinical team it will be my responsibility to work effectively and to understand my duties and tasks. I should be able to draw important decisions and should also guide my team through the harsh times. However, this is not possible if I do not have an in-depth knowledge of my team and their roles and their performance as well as their relationships with other individuals. All the team members will be involved in the prescription, supply, and administration of medicine therefore, as a team leader; it is my foremost duty to work effectively and by following all the principles and ethical backgrounds. Role and Functions of Members As it has been aforementioned that my role as a senior team member is very notable and important for the success of entire team, in the same manner the role and functions of other team members also play a crucial role in this regard. As a senior team member I should be able to understand the potential, proficiencies and skills of my team members so that I can effectively place them in the right order and can assign them the right duty and task which fits them the most. Furthermore, I should respect other team members and should expect the same from them. As a team it is our foremost responsibility to understand that every individual and his role are equally important and that no one is assigned with an easy job or has been favored. Furthermore, I also need to check that all members of the team are performing their duties well and are following all the ethical and legal guidelines of prescribing, selling, and administration. Documentation of Communication between Team Members. Auditing, Monitoring, and Evaluating Prescribing Practices. It should be noted that prescribing someone is a serious and important issue. Although only authorized professionals are allowed to prescribe medicines, it is important that as a senior team member I should keep a check and balance on the procedures. A daily, weekly and monthly evaluation of the prescribing practices should be incorporated in the routine tasks as well as auditing, and monitoring these practices. This will allow less chances of error and will ensure effective and steady process of prescribing and other tasks. Outcome No. 3 Critical Analysis of Psychology, Ethics & Prescriptions The presence of code of ethics and conduct is made by the Ethics committee of “The British Psychological Society”[Cow14]. They provide an insight to the educational, professional roles of Psychologists but they are not merely specific rules for psychologists but they are associated with certain principles that provide guidance on when to fulfill demand of the patients and when it would be feasible to say no to them. However, it is important to state that these ethical standards are not compulsory because they may be applied and other times they are not. Practically speaking, I have seen that sometimes they may not be ethically important. In other words, these codes of ethics do not necessarily indicate they are ethical or unethical[Cow14]. As cited by Ebbe & Kazar [Ebb13], there are few ethical violations present in this field when client dealing is carried out so I feel it is essential to analyze the pro and cons of the conditions of the patients before succumbing to their requests. According to Gurang [Gur13] patients may force their doctors for treatment plans which may not be appropriate so I feel it would be necessary to say vigilant and think about the three factors that are mentioned by a scholar Michael Gottlieb [Got11] which are to see how much power you to control the situation and be certain about the duration of professional help and the fact that therapeutic relationship has to end and this needs to be communicated to the client. These three factors will help the clients understand the position they are in, and the doctors would be able to follow the code of ethics as well. It is mentioned bythere are external influences like relating to Pharmaceutical industry that may have an influence on the psychologist’s practices. It can be related to prescriptions, technological based alternatives e-prescribing and may also involve corresponding with clients on phone or email. APA guidelines in America and UK’s Psychological society provide intervention strategies that relate to these influences[Cow14]. However, I feel it is still important to understand that these guidelines differ from standards as they are always mandatory and are enforced to Psychologists. I feel that Cultural & Ethics are closely related to Psychologist practices as they define their lives and the conditions of the patients. Gurang [Gur13]states that a “culture centered” approach can help psychologists counsel their patients and provide prescriptions in an effective way. These cultural and ethical needs provide meaningful insight on the reasons of the personal issues of patients and they can be dealt accordingly. According to Cowden and Pullen [Cow14], compliance is when the patient carefully attempts to follow the procedures given by the Psychologists. This term was re-termed as “adherence” in the later stages. However, the term concordance is a completely different approach as it is more like a partnership between the patients and psychologists and there is a concept of shared decision making. In my opinion these three concepts are ethically sound provided that they do not get personalized and break the ethical standards. Negotiation and shared understanding reduce conflicts and shapes social and psychological factors with the different models of negotiation. These factors relate to ethics and values of Psychologists and the patients. It focuses on situational characteristics that have an impact on the patients. However, a plan of action can be negotiated through arbitration, consensus and adjudication. As per UK’s policy of using antibiotics and vaccines, the immunization programs are essential part of public health interventions[Gou05]. I feel that immunization schedules facilitated by a combination of vaccines improve immunogenicity among individuals. The policies relating to the use of antibiotics or vaccines are different depending on the types however, their use is made a compulsion in order to eradicate the diseases and provide health protection. Research indicates that there is limited access to health care provision or medicines[Ald11]. Though, there has been a constant improvement but there are still setbacks. In my opinion, these issues relate to lack of awareness of the need for health insurance and fear that people have for public programs and lack of literacy and cultural incompetency. Many people have no idea about these medicines, their impact as well as their significance[Ald11]. However, I feel such health programs that provide budgets schedules and gives briefs on established practices can generate a positive response. Adler [Ald11]mentions in her book that guidelines about dietary advice and caloric intake have been one of the issues for health care services as they relate to certain prescriptions given by health practitioners. Thus, in this regard labeling food ingredients would make it easier for people to understand how much they need to consume, which ingredients are harmful. I feel that these issues should be dealt proactively and the solutions be made part of dietary guidelines, especially when patients are going to their health practitioners for treatment.
