Nursing concepts affiliation Nursing concepts The field nursing requires significant application of strategies and mechanism that would increase the effectiveness of service delivery. Billings & Halstead (2011) are of the assumption that nursing is greatly dependable on the ability of practitioners to provide quality services and patient care. The authors further assert that the field should be developed in respect to requirements from patients and medical institutions (Billings & Halstead, 2011). Through nursing concepts, the field is developed in four categories of effective service delivery. The concepts are aimed at increasing the responsibility of practitioners in the field as well enable medical institutions set instructional requirements in the organizational setting. In general, the concepts exhaust all the factors that may affect the field of nursing. This is made possible by four way categorical division of issues that affect the field. Each concept is divided into sections that address the problems that may affect the metaparadigm. The four concepts are (Keating, 2011); Persons Health Environment Nursing Keating (2011) is of the assumption that the concepts cover the nursing field extensively in terms of providing recommendations to tackle basic nursing problems. Moreover, the issue in nursing cannot be prevented without putting them in functional categories of problem solving. For instance, it may be a hectic task to tackle the issue affects the concept of environment under the same provisions in the concept of health. The concept of persons This metaparadigm focuses on the challenges and issue that affect the patients in regards to service delivery. Across the field, service delivery to customer is created by the ability of a practitioner to embrace the requirements by the patient population. However, the concept seeks to understand the appropriateness of client demands. In an argument by Keith (2008) the human nature in nursing is considered under physiology, psychology, cultural, spiritual and social perceptions. The five provisions ensure service delivery is obtained without the creation of conflict with patients social affiliations. For instance, it is an obvious assumption that different social and cultural affiliations have specific social preferences. Considering the cultural depth in the modern society, a medical practitioner should be able to deal with the challenges presented by these social preferences. For example, a patient may embrace the assumption that euthanasia is against their religious views and beliefs. A nurse should be able to understand these personal requirements and address them effectively (Keith, 2008). The concept of health The concept of health refers to the well-being of the patient. In an argument by Shaw& Longo (2013) the health of a person is determined by their mental, social and physical well-being. The three provisions are determined by good health, poor health or death. The concept also recognizes that health is affected by environmental factors, external mechanism and lifestyle. From this realization, a nurse is required to address personal health with utmost respect of human health and life. Nurses are provided with mechanism in which they could understand the evolving health spectrum. Moreover, it become the responsibility of the nurse practitioner to ensure the health condition of a patient is analyzed and determined before recommendation of care or diagnosis (Shaw & Longo, 2013). The concept of environment The environmental concept analyzes the external and internal factors that may affect the behaviors and development of humans. The analysis is made on the psychological effects, social, cultural and physical forces. The analysis is created prior to the realization that the environment is influential in the collective and individual health status. Moreover, the concept is of the assumption that an effective health care environment is an exceptional tool towards achieving a healthy society. In a general analysis, the concept introduces a nurse practitioner with the benefits of understanding the most effective environment to thrive a healthy community (Keating, 2011). The nursing concept Billings & Halstead (2011) define nursing as a health activity aimed at increasing the health condition of a community. The authors are also of the assumption that the practice should be focused on the collective health status of a community (Billings & Halstead, 2011). In addition, health facilities should be provided with means and mechanism to minimizing the limitation to provide nursing services to individuals only. The concept also defines the role of the nurse practitioner in the quest for a healthy society. For instance, the concept is for realizing all possible ways that health can be promoted in the collective form. This may include research, collaboration, partnerships, empowerment and creation of partnerships between the community and health institutions. In addition, nursing as a concept eliminates the requirements from nurses to take part in service provision for individuals and focuses on health promotional mechanisms at a society level. Clinical application of the concepts Personal concepts The concept is based on the ability to understand personal provisions and perceptions of the society. An organization may put in place a functional multi-cultural system to cater for the varying health perception of patients. The system should include training and provision of skills to nursing staffs on how to tackle the numerous personal demands. Generally, a nurse should consider four factors of the concept when practicing (Keating, 2011): Needs Cultures Wholeness Development Behavior Environmental concept In regards to application, the environmental concept should detect both internal and external factors that may affect quality provision of health care services. For instance, an organization may roll out an immunization exercise aimed at reducing the impact and spread of a disease. The process should be accompanied with an empowerment and educative exercise to the community on how to retain a healthy environment. Health concept A clinical process to determine the health of a person is based on the realization on the general health status of a person. An organization may put in place a well-developed diagnosis system that aims at detecting factors that may cause infections and spread of a disease in a person. For instance, nurses may be provided with a through training on how well to detect factors affecting the health of an individual. The training should also include provisions to minimize or completely eradicate the factors. Nursing concept The clinical application of this concept is based on the assumption that the health of individuals is influenced by the health status of their society or community. From this assumption, a health institution may focus on creating a campaign to increase community awareness and empowerment. In addition, a nurse should take a leading role to educate the community on ways in which they could ensure healthy society status is maintained. The concept can be easily applied by creating versatile nurses that significantly practice autonomy in their organization. This would increase their creativity in regards to developing health solutions in both the organization setting and the society (Shaw & Longo, 2013). The collaboration of the concepts of nursing In an argument by Billings& Halstead (2011) the four concepts have great similarity. The author further asserts that the concepts borrow heavily from provisions and requirements of effective provisions of health care services. However, an organization or a practitioner should not be limited to effectively practice the provisions of one concept. All four concepts should be practiced to ensure quality in all sections of the health system. For instance, the health concept is heavily reliable on how well a nurse understands the personal concept. Moreover, the environmental concept also determines the direction of the health concept considering that they both focus on understanding the environmental influence on healthcare provision. From this analysis, it is a positive conclusion to points out that the effectiveness on one nursing concept is influenced on how exemplarily the other concepts would be applied in the clinical setting.
