Nurses play a crucial role in the healthcare system because they are individuals with close contact with the patients on a daily basis (Nightingale, 2010). They have to meet their basic needs and ensure that all the conditions that would ensure they improve their health is maintained. Medical care is very important to patients, but this alone does not guarantee one a return to good health. The nurse ensures that the environment of the patient is appropriate and guarantees one a quick recovery. Even in cases where the patient is at home, nurses still go to visit the patients and provide the required medical care on a regular basis.

Nurses not only receive training on how to care for patients but also have knowledge on medical matters such as drug prescriptions. This is to ensure they are able to give patients wholesome medical care to promote their well-being. Like in any other practice, proper stewardship is crucial for nurses to be able to work efficiently. There has to be a system to check that their schedules are well organized and they get adequate time to rest so that they can provide proper care to their patients. This unit should be headed by an individual who has experience in dealing with patients and can handle any situations that may arise.
