The Roles of Studies in Virginia Surgical Vascular CentreThe centre chosen for the case study is the Virginia Surgical Vascular Centre. A case study is a process in which a researcher or group of researchers conduct a detailed evaluation of a particular organization or group that is the subject of interest. The objective of conducting a case study is to acquire more information after carrying out a thorough analysis (Nath, 2005). Many times, case studies are accompanied by detailed reports on suggestions or recommendations.

Before embarking on conducting a case study, a person has to carry out extensive research on the subject of interest so as to be well acquainted with all factors concerning the subject. The individual should also keep track of all materials being consulted for information as these will form the sources. It is also quite common for notes to be taken in the course of conducting case studies. In many cases, case studies will include the use of methods of research such as questionnaires and interviews.

It is, therefore, necessary to use open-ended questions that encourage people to volunteer as much information as possible. Including questions that require one word answers such as ‘yes’ or ‘no’ is counterproductive as they do not give the opportunity for more detailed answers. The use of case studies in studying sensitive subjects, such as in the investigation of matters regarding ethical concerns, is quite beneficial, as participants have the opportunity to openly express their opinions.
