Picot Framework Questions PICOT Framework Population: this element identifies patients’ problems, which are used for description the subject in the research question. It may also include other descriptions in terms of age, race, sex or medication used in the research question (Koshar, 2011). Intervention: this element entails use of a certain procedures, products, recommendations, therapy treatment or medication by patients; in fact, it is a major consideration for the patient in the research question (Koshar, 2011).

Comparison: this entails the alternative that is considered in the research question, and it is specific in order to facilitate effective search. However, this is optional to the research question (Koshar, 2011). Outcome: this element identifies the results or the intentions of the research question; thus, it is measurable and it entails reliving or elimination of symptoms in a patient (Koshar, 2011). Time: this element refers to the time lines set in relations to the research (Koshar, 2011).

PICOT Framework Questions1) What are the effects (Outcome) of hyperglycemia (Intervention) among children with diabetes (Population) compared to adults (Comparison) during their first three months after diagnosis (Time)? 2) How long does it take to recover (Outcome) for a patient, who has undergone a surgery for hip replacement (Population) and develop an infection after surgery (Intervention) compared to those who are did not (Comparison) in a period of the first two months of their recovery (Time)? 3) How is the risk of suffering from obesity (Outcome) for teenagers (Population) with parents who are obese adaptive (Intervention) compared to teenagers (Population), whose parents are not obese adaptive (Comparison) at their age of twelve to eighteen (Time)?
