There have been very few studies which tried to correlate the conditions of US farmworkers that is being related to health care usage. Unfortunately, those studies lacked representativeness of the population and may have some bias associated with it to draw an inference. Thus the goal of this study was to draw fairly a true representative sample from the population of US farmworkers to reduce the component of bias in the statistical interpretations to be made. On the basis of sampling strategies as discussed, the study selected correlates based on previous literature and the behavioural model for vulnerable populations which imposes the fact the predisposing, enabling, and need characteristics that influence the health care usage. An ecological model was selected to specify the several levels of influence on behaviour, which provided the the overall framework for calculations. Thus the ultimate aim was to find out how each factor relates to health care usage in relation to various factors or correlates and to suggest the interventions needed to improve the health care usage based on these observations. The Way Regression Equation Is Used Regression equations are used to define the magnitude and direction of relation of one variable with another variable( simple regression) or the relation of a set of variables with another variable.(multiple regression equations like logistic regression equations based on ordinary least squares or linear regression equations). The variable which is studied is called the criterion (dependent variable, in this case the health care usage) and the variable/s on which the dependant variable depends are called the predictor (independent variables, in this case the individual variables, policy variables, ecological variables). Therefore in this study the Health care usage was correlated in the equation by bivariate models and multivariate models. Bivariate means predicting the health care usage depending upon another variable with which health care is correlated. In multivariate logistic regression model the health care usage was predicted holistically depending upon two or more variables because in bivariate model only one independent variable is considered. In multivariate logistic model many variables at a single time in relation to each other and health care usage can be evaluated which gives a more realistic view to the situation because individual variables, behavioural variables, ecological variables are all related to each other to finally impact health care usage. In other words the multiple regression equations provide a logical and at once glance of the weighted impact of all the independent variables on the dependent variable ( in this case health care usage pattern). In logistic equations the important aspect is to evaluate the correlation coefficients which means how a variable is related to other that is whether increase in the value of one will increase or decrease the magnitude of another variable. This coefficient called product moment correlation(r) has a value from -1 to +1. This means more the positive magnitude more the increase in magnitude of one variable will increase the ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

...?NSB025 Nursing Practice in Context 5 INTRODUCTION Colorectal cancer is caused by an abnormal separation of cells in the colon of a human being (Radtke, 2005). Due to the level of damage caused by this disease, both healthy and persons with the symptoms, require regular screening. An early diagnosis helps in removal of polyps way before they grow into cancerous cells. John’s medical history In the case study, John is diagnosed with colorectal cancer. In order to prevent further spread of this terminal disease, he agrees to undergo a surgery and later a chemotherapy treatment by fluorouracil. He therefore has to be educated on how the process of chemotherapy takes place and the importance of maintaining...

Nursing theory in practice

...? Dorothea Orem Self-Care Deficit Nursing Theory Dorothea Orem Self-Care Deficit Nursing Theory The Dorothea Orem Self-Care Deficit Nursing Theory (SCDNT) was put forward by Dorothea Orem. The concept first started to take its root in the 1950s but it was in 1972 when the theory was first published. The intent behind the theory is to organize and put forth the structure of nursing knowledge and to explain the various aspects of nursing knowledge. A number of people have emphasized upon the complexity of the nursing profession. Orem herself observed once that if nursing is scrutinized under the lens of human...

Logistic regression classifier for the churn Data

...?Question For the churn data the package used for analysis is SPSS because it is more versatile and conversant. The churn variable is considered as output, good/bad and the other variables are treated as independent. The independent variables are checking, duration, history, purpose, amount, savings, employed, install, marital, coapp, resident, property, age, other, housing, existcr, job, depends, telephon and foreign. Since the output variable (dependent variable) is categorical (good or bad) the proper statistical technique to be adopted is logistic regression. The output of the logistic regression is given below. The preprocessing steps involve identifying independent...

Credit Risk Analysis - Application of Logistic Regression

...?Credit Risk Analysis – Application of Logistic Regression The following is the definition of Logistic Regression provided by SPSS in its ial: “Logistic Regression is useful for situations in which you want to be able to predict the presence or absence of a characteristic or outcome based on values of a set of predictor variables. It is similar to a linear regression model but is suited to models where the dependent variable is dichotomous. Logistic regression coefficients can be used to estimate odds ratios for each of the independent variables in the model.” In order to run binary...

...Nursing Practice Synopsis In the world of medical practice and health care, there are many more practical issues than ordinarily meet the eye. Theprovision of care facilities involves issues pertaining to the context of legal, ethical and professional domain, that are integral to the well-being of both the patient and the health care provider. This paper shall endeavor to dwell upon certain areas of influence in the same realm, and help establish certain working parameters for professionals. Introduction Centuries ago, while the science of medical care was in its technical evolution stage, the prime area of reference was only the provision of health care. However, in...

Psych/Stats - Multiple Regression and Logistic Regression & Prenatal Maternal Speech Influences

...1. An appropriate continuous dependent variable to be predicted as Y is the inter-burst interval (IBI) time . Three continuously measured predictors that can be used as X variables include the age of the child, the age of the mother, and the number of words in the stories that were read during the experiment. A multiple regression analysis designed using these variables would have the null hypothesis that there is no correlation between the IBI time and each of predicting measures (baby age, mother age, and story word count), which would be indicated by slopes equal to zero. The opposing alternative hypotheses are that the predicting variables are correlated with IBI time, displayed by slopes not equal to zero that can be positive... or...

Structural Equation Modelling and Logistic regression

.... Logistic regression was used to determine the effect of perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness of cashless payments on attitudes towards replacing cash payment systems. The analysis was subdivided into two phases, with the descriptive section incorporating descriptive, frequency and normality tests. Results of the logistic regression test were presented in the inferential section. Results The results were divided into two sections: descriptive and inferential. The descriptive statistics highlight the frequencies of non-scale variables while the descriptive statistics are generally measures of central tendency that shed more light on the features of the...
