The Birdland lullaby is a song that has got 32 bars. When one is trying to improvise the Birdland, they may take a number of approaches when playing the changes. The melody that begins at 00:18 and ends at 2:46 has 21 sections. From the macro analysis of the chords or arrangement of the melody, there are 3 bars of “F” minor. After the three bars, there are four bars of “F” major, then 2-5-1, which ultimately goes back to the “F” minor. The bridge has the “Ab” major. The last “A” is almost exactly the same as the first two.

While the listener gets familiarized with the chords, they begin to incorporate the delicacy of the particular chord. The shorter’s tenor sax solo does not occur in the form of the piece. The riffs that are played on the keyboard from 03:36 to 4:59: the harmonic sequence applies the “ice cream” or the “blue moon” changes to an appealing variation of minor. Zawinul’s solo that begins at 05:00 changes to the major key and goes on to repeat the sequence of the chord. “Patorius” bass lie during this solo sounds ambiguous because it begins in the corresponding major of the first tonic.

At some point it sounds like a repeated pattern while at some point it does not. Ziwanul’s jazz piece fuses R&B, rock, funk and art music while “Bitches Brew” is pure jazz with no fusion of any other form. The general characteristics of this piece that are different from hard pop and free groups include the innovations of two bassist, three drummers and a percussionist.
