justice for the death of Victoria Climbie, a young girl who was tortured and brutally murdered by her great aunt and the man with whom she used to live. The report deals with the various aspects of the policy in the United Kingdom. The report has due emphasis on the strengths and weaknesses of the policy and also the report studies the relation of the policy with that of the Post - Compulsory Technical Education. The mega policy of Every Child Matters was formulated as the government published Green Paper on existing plans in order to strengthen the preventive measures and services provided to the children.
Following the consultation of the Green Paper Government immediately passed the Children Act, 2004 to cater more strength and a legislative spine in order to develop more effective and accessible services throughout the country focusing the needs of children and young people (Government of UK, n.d.). A survey was conducted in 2009 by the Guardian newspaper all over UK. The result has been very positive in favour of the policy. Of the social workers associated with children’s services, 74% approved that the policy implementation has lead to the improved joint working with other professionals and 72% of them acknowledged that the policy helped to improve the quality care for the children nationwide.
Janet Foulds who is a service manager in Children’s service at Derby and also is a former chair of the British Association of Social Workers says that “Many good things have come out of every child matters and undoubtedly been good for children” (Winchester, 2009). Since the inception of the policy, social workers are noticing that more and more child are joining university and making positive contribution. Due to the policy implementation it has been taken into great consideration, priority and notice that none of the child suffer from any disadvantages.
