” (Teal, 152) Among the most important human qualities listed in the article are imagination, integrity, respect for employees, and empowerment. As a starting point it is essential for managers to have a big imagination. Creativity and innovation are significant factors for success of a company as well as the managerial talent. New ideas lead to development of programs superior to those which the company is already committed to. In other words it leads to higher progress. Imagination must go along with willingness to take risk.
If a leader is afraid to take new steps or explore new territories, then opportunities for improvement are lost. A second important and essential factor is integrity. “Being responsible, communicating clearly and consistently” (Teal, 154) could be difficult to attain once the leader is regularly faced with dilemmatic decisions between profit and customer satisfaction or employee safety. Liability placed on the leaders shoulders require these individuals to carefully analyze every aspect of their decision making.
Additionally a leader must respect and value their employees. Leaders ought to respect the dignity and worth of each follower. As a leader one is responsible to treat everyone equally, but as the field becomes more and more diverse leaders face greater obstacles due to race, education, language, religion and even sexual orientation differences.
