In this paper we will analyze the leadership qualities of Florentyna Rosnovski in context to the notions presented in the book “Leadership Challenge” by Kouzes & Posner. Florentyna’s leadership qualities are more visible when she decides to enter the field of politics. When Edward suggests to Florentyna that she should join politics, she is skeptical about her abilities as a politician, for she had no experience in the field of politics. “But I havent been involved in politics at a grass-roots level, let alone a national level, for years”. (Archer).But when Edward further presses to consider his proposal, she accepts it and ventures into an unknown area.

This trait of Florentyna resembles to the concept of leadership presented by Kouzes & Posner in their book “Leadership Challenge”. “Leaders are pioneers-people who are willing to step out into the unknown.” (Kouzes & Posner). Another incident which provides a glimpse of Florentyna as a capable leader is her first speech as a politician. The audience commends her and Florentyna is successful in putting forth her values before the audience. This success proves that Florentyna displayed the following quality of an able leader, as mentioned in the book “Leadership Challenge”.

“Leaders must find their own voice, then they must clearly and distinctively give voice to their values.” (Kouzes & Ponser). Although Florentyna was novice in the field of politics, she expresses her thoughts in a language which was understood and appreciated by her listeners. Her stand on religious, political and social issues is clearly presented by her. “It was the first time she had attended any meeting without all the facts and figures at her fingertips and she was surprised to find how strongly she felt on so many issues.
