Structural, as well as, functional neuroimaging studies related to the bipolar disorder with respect to medicated and unmedicated individuals have been reviewed by the author. Moreover, abovementioned confusing effect of medications has been distinguished by the review in the article. No significant effect of psychotropic medications was observed in the medicated individuals during their examination by the experts, as identified by the studies. Moreover, it was indicated by the studies that abnormal structuring and neuroimaging measures have not been affected by the patho-physiologic medications, which has been thoroughly discussed in the article.
In light of the studies and reports, it is very important that various strategies should be implemented for the assessment of effects of patho-physiologic medications. Ideally, both unmedicated, as well as, medicated patients should be recruited during the neuroimaging studies related to the bipolar disorder. More severe illness has been observed in the individuals that are more vulnerable to the process of withdrawal of medications. Lastly, such individuals are more comfortable in participating researches and studies related to the innovative strategies for the bipolar disorder treatment.
The contributions of demographic, as well as, clinical variables have been examined by the author, while the natural follow-ups of bipolar disorder individuals. In addition, mood episode frequency has been prospectively observed by the author.
