My responsibilities included proof-of-concept testing, writing design guides, delivering presentations at industry events and influencing the product management team to make the product better. During my work, I found that the product is purely based on how PMs perceive a problem and how solving that problem affects the company’s gross margin. To be a successful PM I need to act as a liaison between the technical and business side. For my future, I foresee for myself moving from a PM into a Marketing management position having a greater impact on my company than my present status.
I firmly believe that I am at a natural point in my career to pursue an MBA as it will give me an even stronger general business foundation and understanding of the “big picture”, insight of the business functions and opportunities to master concepts considered difficult and/or time-consuming to address. The ability to analyze purchase patterns depends on how to position a product and seek revenue. This requires a combination of market research skills, analytical and communication skills plus cross functional influence.
Over the years I have learned how to influence and collaborate with co-workers to get things done. Also there was learning of leadership, negotiation and teamwork meanwhile. This becomes a most rewarding aspect of my professional development. Thus I want to further hone my skills at NC State and after that my future career. Furthermore, NC State’s marketing management program would facilitate in the marketing concepts as well as help at applying those concepts to real life scenarios on the job.
