INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT: APPLE, INC.COMPANY Introduction The working environment in most companies like in Apple Inc Company has immensely changed given the current technological dynamics. The job applicants are anticipated to understand what the employers are looking. Most organizations are looking for candidates who have acquired the relevant education and practical skills to solve their organization problems. The candidates are anticipated to demonstrate their competencies and maximum learning values that they have acquired during career development. In addition, the job applicants are tested whether they understand the organization culture and behavior. The sooner a candidate can adapt to the organization culture, the higher the chances of increasing organization productivity. Job seekers should also demonstrate their knowledge of factors affecting both internal and external business environment. Proper understanding of internal and external factors affecting the organization is a good indication that the candidate can be part of the solution to the problems facing the company (Gennari et al, 2003). There are a number of skills that employer within the business environment. Some of those skills include; self-reliance, technical skills, communication skills, problem-solving skills to mention just but a few. Self-reliance skills are those skills that help a candidate to work independently without supervision from the seniors. A candidate with self-reliance skills can work both as an individual and as a team player to achieve the organization goals and objectives. Technical skills are competencies to use information technology to solve the problems affecting the organization skills. On the other hand, communication skills involve the ability of the job applicant to communicate effectively. Communication is an imperative skill that every employer is looking. A candidate should not only have the ability to communicate orally but must also have the ability to write effectively (Gennari et al, 2003). Therefore, for the purpose of this study Apple Inc company has been chosen to determine how working environment and practical application of individual knowledge may be. Description of the Apple Inc company Apple Inc Company was established in the year 1976 its headquarters are based in Cupertino California. The organization was pioneers by Steve Jobs, Wayne Ronald and Wozniak Steve. They started by selling kits for personal computers. Apple Inc has continued to grow and in 1977, January; the company was incorporated after Wayne sold his share to Steve Jobs. Apple is now the second largest global largest organization in the information technology industry after Samsung Corporation. The corporation is on the New York stock exchange, and its shares are highly traded due to its high market capitalization rate and positive market performance. Apple Inc company operates under the three major industries namely; hardware, software, electronics and distribution industry. The company size may be determined by looking for the areas it serves, the number of employees, as well as its revenue. Apple Inc Company serves a worldwide area; it has numerous subsidiaries all over the world. The company has employed over ninety-eight thousand employees and earns a net income of over thirty million dollars in the year 2014. The vision of Apple Inc Company is to produce high-quality technological products that meet the individuals need. While the mission of the company entails ensuring that the highest standards of social responsibility have been observed in all their undertakings (Apple Inc, 2015). Source: Apple Inc Company culture The corporate culture of Apple Company is a change driven form of culture, employees are expected to self-manage themselves without supervision and deliver the desired outcomes. Based on Hofstede cultural dimensions, the following elements can be observed namely; power distance, individualism, masculinity, uncertainty avoidance and long term orientation. There is power distance between the top and lower level management employees in Apple company. The power flows from the top to the bottom (Lashinsky, 2012). Apple Management style The company has a hierarchical style of management from top to bottom. The chain of command flows from top to the bottom. Employees are expected to act accordingly based on the commands that they receive from the top management. Employees should report to the direct/immediate manager who may communicate to the top management about the areas that require amendments. Employees are hired based on their levels of expertise rather than their individual’s experience. The style had enabled the company to acquire the most suitable talent who help the company to experience significant growth (Lashinsky, 2012). I graduated in the year 2012 from Oxford University with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in finance and banking, first class honors upper division. I was given a scholarship to pursue my post-graduates studies at Harvard Business School; I am looking forward to completing it by the end of this year. I am computer literate having done a diploma in information technology. I also possess a professional qualification in Accountancy, and I am a member of Association of Chattered Institute of accountancy. I should be hired for a number of reason I am a fast learner, I can quickly adapt to your organization culture. Secondly, I have worked for one year as finance assistant during my industrial attachment at Google. The exposure provided me with varied skills and ability to work both independently and as a team member. Moreover, I believe I possess the required skills for the job acquired in college. Some of those skills are problem-solving skills, Information technology skills, and technical skills. I was able to solve the system trafficking problem when I was working at Google Company by utilizing my I.T skills and accountancy skills. I established a model that could help to enhance efficiency and ensure that the waiting time for the large number of customers was reduced by 95%.Moreover; I can work independently both as a team and as an individual without any supervision from my senior. I can multitask and work under extreme pleasure and ensure everything is through to achieve the organization goals and objectives to the later. Thank you for taking the time to review my application.
