ment of purpose My is Saranya Sarika and I am 23 years old. I am of Indian nationality but currently living in Singapore where my parents are. Ever since I was young, I have always been curious especially in regard to how things came to be. I always wondered as a kid, how such things as cars were assembled or televisions which could bring the whole world in our living room. My parents had a hard time in shielding my naïve and difficult questions at the time, in addition to trying to keep me off electronics and anything that produced sound.
As I grew older I learnt more and more and at least some of my questions were answered; though not all. Nevertheless, in the course of my life, I have been inspired by technology entrepreneurs such as Bill Gates of Microsoft, Steve Jobs of Apple and most recently Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, and how they were able to come up with mind boggling, life changing inventions. Joel Barker’s said that, “Vision without action is merely a dream. Action without vision just passes the time. Vision with action can change the world!
” These words are quite distinguishing and they are a hallmark of many entrepreneurs. They have kept ringing into my mind until today. An entrepreneur usually takes the initiative of bringing visions into actuality. I have desired to be one and from my various readings, I have discovered that present day entrepreneurs have used technology for furthering their ideas and bettering the lives of others. This is the reason why I decided long ago that I will study engineering and capitalized on every opportunity that I got which would further enhance my skills in engineering.
I concentrated on sciences in my high school education at Narayana Junior College-Board of Intermediate, AP-India and then later went to do a bachelor of technology at GVP College of Engineering-University JNTU, Kakinada, India. Though I did not get a very good score in my Bachelors, I have endeavored to not let that dampen my spirit and have made up by having industry exposure through working as a software developer for over one year and later on moved to a role of support analyst so as to better understand the production system.
I am a firm believer in continuous learning especially during my various daily duties at my place of work. I am currently working as a Senior Systems Executive (Banking & Financial Services) at Cognizant Technology Solutions. This is another role that has exposed me to business support in wealth management space for clients. Whereas creativity, hard work and technological proficiency are the building blocks of an enterprise, another key determinant of success in a world full of uncertainties and competition is possession of skills in management.
That is why I want to do my Masters in Engineering so as to further enhance my skills in this discipline. From this course I am optimistic that I will acquire invaluable knowledge as well as skills in courses like Concepts of Financial and management, Management of Engineering Teams, Management Accounting, Engineering Project Management and Financial Engineering while keeping abreast with the latest developments in the discipline of technology. While doing my undergraduate, I endeavored to accomplish a well-defined career objective in addition to developing my attitude towards curiosity, technology and proficiency in various academic subjects so as to accomplish that goal.
Thus, the Masters Program in Engineering Management will be a key step in bridging the gap between what I am at present and what I aspire to be: a techno-commercial entrepreneur in India, a country which is rife with expert and trained manpower and big scope for indigenous technology development .In addition, I have a heart for the community and having worked with a charitable organization (BCT) before, as a president, I came face to face with the realities of poverty. This got me disturbed and I decided that I will do something about it.
I am optimistic that through my education and entrepreneurship, I will be very much well equipped to give back to the community and enhance somebody’s life. That is why I am so passionate about advancing my education since I know with a good education I can not only change the economic fortunes of Visakhapatnam, where I hail from but also that of the world. I hope to accomplish this through building of technology incubation centers where young and talented children from less privileged backgrounds can come and learn for free through my generous contribution.
In so doing I will have done my share in contributing towards a safe, better and prosperous world. Moreover, the Masters Program will be a rare opportunity of working with the guidance of some of the most experienced and best professors in addition to competing with talented international students. This will ready me to conquer any challenges I may face in the outside world. I really look forward to getting a positive response from the admissions committee of XXX University, and offer me a rare and wonderful chance that will open for me the doors of opportunity and fulfillment of a dream so dear.
