I can also work with people and motivate teams to perform better and achieve organizational objectives. I am also hardworking and flexible, so I can meet the changing needs and demands of my job. My value for a systematic and collaborative environment is an added advantage for your organization to realize its goals in a timely and effective manner.

I understand that achieving performance improvement and government expenditure growth is a difficult task for the government. However, for whatever the government can accomplish, it should be accountable to the taxpayers. In other words, taxpayers should be aware of how their money is used. One of the most successful methods of achieving accountability is to publish and release data annually and semi-annually to provide the public with information on how public funds are spent and how well the government is performing in terms of service delivery to the public. Providing information about public service and performance ensures that the government becomes accountable and improves its efficiency (Erkkilä, 2012). Data on expenditure should be published to enable the public to track the money paid to civil servants, money spent on contracts, and other types of government expenditure. Releasing public data should be done in public and through print media so that all citizens can access them.

The local government can become more open, transparent, and accountable to its constituents by providing open data, disclosing sufficient financial information on annual financial statements, and engaging the public in decision-making. Publishing data on financial expenditure enables the public to assess government performance; hence holding the government accountable for its service delivery and performance. This openness builds public trust in the government. The government should also discuss various issues with the public concerning public service and how the government is using public funds to meet its expenditure. Financial information disclosure on annual financial statements is also an important way of enhancing transparency. The government should also involve members of the public in its decisions that have an impact on them (Erkkilä, 2012). Involvement and participation of the public ensure that the constituents contribute to the decisions and performance of the government and that their interests are taken into consideration when providing public services.

One of the main local government issues that the government should consider is increasing the minimum wage to help alleviate poverty among the local communities. Increasing the minimum wage leads to the increased purchasing power of the local populations; hence boosting the profitability of businesses in the economy. As a result, business firms and companies expand and employ more people who then earn income to meet their basic needs and save for investments in the future. Increasing minimum wages will also lead to increased savings by employees, consequentially encouraging investments in the future. Higher levels of investment mean that there will be more income in the long run, and poverty will be alleviated. In my future career, I will address this issue by providing suggestions to the government and participating in job evaluations to determine the amount of money to be increased in the minimum wage to alleviate poverty. Salaries of high-income earners may also be decreased to fund the increased minimum wage. Furthermore, ghost workers should be eliminated and government offices may be structured to ensure that people earn according to their job performance.

I believe I am the best candidate for this position because I understand issues about the public sector and I am ready to work with different stakeholders to improve public services in the country. My resume highlights my background, abilities, interests, and experience, and if you go through it you will realize that I can become an excellent member of your organization. If I will be considered for the position, I promise to act in the best interest of the organization and the people we serve. I invite you to share more about my experience and abilities and to answer the questions that you may need answered face-to-face. Thank you for your consideration. Read More
