Analysis of Features used in a Film From the Movie Clip from Casino Royale, the video shooter has used various film features to communicate different situations to the viewer. Theses features include camera shots/angles, camera movements, sounds and mise-en-scene. Therefore, all these features interpret different situations to the viewer and it is the advisable for the viewer to be keen all through the movie for the purpose of understanding the movie well where James Bond is chasing a character who was running towards his embassy.

Camera Shots/Angles and MovementsCamera shots such as close-up, long, medium, crane, zooming, high and low shots are featuring and each serve a different purpose in this movie. They help to guide the audiences to judge the object or character in shot, symbols and gives arousing information. Crane shot has been used where the main character James bond is chasing his target up the cranes where there was some construction taking place. The camera is moved up and down, right and left and in swooping manner to show how James Bond was chasing his target up and down while looking at different landing points as they jump here and there up the cranes and how the audience were keen glaring on their moves up the crane respectively.

Moreover, the camera is moved in a high angle during two incidences, first is when James bond is left up the cranes, and we are shown how his target was progressing downwards. Secondly, is at the entrance of the embassy where the camera is placed at a high angle to view every person entering to the embassy to notify those inside the embassy on any intruder. Additionally, zooming shot has been used to bring objects far away closer to the sight of the viewer and help them to judge the character’s emotions for example- when James Bond was at the embassy and was looking face-to-face with the ambassador before he shot dead his target and disappeared when the blast occurred.

Moreover, low angle of the camera have been used to increase the height of the characters in the film in order to give the audience a sense of swiftness motion that is psychologically subjugated by the images on the screen. Long shot has also been used to show actual sizes of the characters for the purpose of the normal view by the viewers, close-up shot has been with medium shot to show the facial expressions of the characters to different circumstances. On the other hand, the producer have used different sounds along the movie.

The purposes of these sounds are to create a mood, to add off scene actions and to replicate the reality. The replication of reality sounds involves opening and closing of doors, conversation of people, welding and gun shots that we encounter along the different scene of the movie. Additionally, off scene sound used in the movie involve screaming of the audience when they heard gun shots and echoed effects of the gun shots. Lastly, mood creating sound involve background music accompanying different scene for example- after James Bond suddenly disappeared after the blast, there was a background music to show how the soldiers were shocked of his disappearance within a blink of an eye.

Overall, the movie was enjoyable and has many lessons for the viewer to learn.Work citedMark Winokur and Bruce Holsinge. The Complete Guide to Movies and Film Features Effects and Functions. New York; Cambridge Press, 2001. Print
